Starting with your question about Shine (Chai), it's not a sequel but more a spin-off, if I read it correctly. It's still Chat and Khem, and it's around the same time period as MS, I think a little later, but it's a new story. One that will focus more on the relationship building between Chat and Khem, not a suspense setting. I agree with you about the movie being good, but the characters could have been fleshed out more. I think what ended up preventing it was that the original script was apparently a lot longer than the script they ended up using. Like, the movie could have been 3 hours long, but in order to get proper/enough cinema screenings, they were told that it should be around 2 hours long. A 110 pages script got cut to 80 pages. Which is likely what make the pace a bit rushed. Maybe also because they were working on Shine along the way too, and knew they'd make a BL afterwards, and removing all obvious romance elements, they made the age rating of the movie so much lower. From an 18+ to a PG-11 in Thailand.

ManSuang spoiler comment ----------- I quite like the movie, despite the things it lacks. I must say that I picked up on more subtle things the 2nd time I watched it. I've watched it three times now. The settings, their expressions, the acting, could be more focused on, on 2nd and 3rd view, since I didn't need to focus as much on the text. Mile's acting.. he's such a master in body language. Acting with his whole body. Apo, phenomenal, and he truly masters telling a lot with small subtle facial changes. What he put into learning Thai dance, and performing it. The pain behind it, but so beautiful in the end. Bas and Tong are so good too. I agree with you that Bas's talents truly shined in MS. I'll slightly disagree about Mile not coming forward as much with his acting. His acting was more subtle, but amazing. A scene like the last document talk, asking Khem to be freed. The way he steps up to the other guy (name escapes me), all intimidating even as he smiles, and stare the other guy down. Chef's kiss. I love the symbolism of Rueing, the cat, and what it represents between Chat and Khem. Also, give that cat a PawScar 😆 Btw, yes, you saw Nodt at the piano in the song scene, but you missed that Phraya's servant is played by Pong. We doesn't have a speaking role, but he's present in several scenes, next to/behind Phraya, and he's the one who waits for Wan outside the temple.
