This show did NOT have grow this quickly into being this good (or this gay).

*Episode 1x05 was, in a deeply unfortunate turn of events, not recorded. It was just one of those things, and I have now learned that hitting the Stream button--located right next to the Record button--looks almost exactly like what happens when you press Record. I can't *believe* it had to happen for the introduction of Lancelot, but at least the lovely people watching the stream got to experience it along with me.

*Episodes available on the Google Drive for those who have trouble with WeTransfer

ok so for ep 4, im laughing a little cuz you had your eyes closed and missed gwen kissing merlin in relief. but about the fic: its gonna be a little tricky to find the specific thing youre looking for. best bet is magic reveal fic where merlin actually tells arthur cuz most authors use one of two spells for merlin to use to show arthur. and one of the things is the glowing sphere of light. the other is a spoiler at this point but i think it shows up for the first time in 1x10. the other option is just looking up the episode tag.

The amount of smiling and giggling and flailing around that I did watching this... Half at the show, and half at your reactions, because SAME. In my mind I remembered Merlin as an amazing show and obviously amazing ship, and yet something in my mind was like "well ok everyone ships them but like, it's a 2010s show, it wasn't that gay was it, it's just what fandom does." No, it really WAS that gay, and MORE I really don't get how anyone working on that show didn't take a moment to go "huh." Like HOW. By the way, have you seen Benjamin? Indie queer rom-com-drama ish movie, with Colin Morgan. If not, I need to start entering it into sweepstakes, I feel like you would love it!!

Thank you for doing these! Sorry, Episodes 6-10 aren't in the Google drive, are they still going to be put there?

I honestly didn't care for this show the first time I tried watching it. I'm not sure if my taste has changed or it's just watching it with someone else but I'm really enjoying it this time around.

The happiness I feel rewatching this with you for the first time in ten years. I started watching it from the first ep of season 1 cause the ads for it had made me so excited that my 17 year old self wrote a 100k fanfic about it :-p

Still on episode 1 and the fact that I can somehow still remember exactly when the ad breaks happened while it aired on TV is vaguely embarrassing.

There are now two shows I know of that are queer coded and include a great dragon. This, and Hannibal

Just finished s1, it was such a great journey! I feel that Gaius is a very flawed character so younger people tend to not understand him so they either dislike him on sight or they just reduce him to fun lil dad that Merlin drives crazy. When I rewatched this series as an adult I understood his character way better and despite not agreeing with some of his decisions, I thought they were understandable under the circumstances he lived. It's also interesting that I rewatched the series after coming to terms with my sexuality so the queer reading was another layer added on top. Now I see in Gaius the equivalent of a queer elder, son of his time and experience, who gives good and bad, self-preservation-driven advice based on that to the younger queer person who comes into the world with a new perspective in a world that's changing.
