I'm so beyond happy that I waited to watch this show and it's with you!!!!! 🖤🥀

Chris

SAME! I'm watching it with Brittany for 1st time also. It is fun to have another person gasp and get shocked at same time when watching! So fun! I go back & rewatch the eps on Viki to support the show and get the glorious details :)

Yes!! Literally screaming (& laughing) in my living room at the amazing intricacies each episode is building upon. 🤯 Glad to know I'm not the only 1st time watcher. I'm going to rewatch with a friend on viki too 🤭

With episode 8, the thing where have visions of 2016/17 in the USA - isn't so much that it's inspired by it as I see it- the rhetoric is fascist. The universal language and themes fascists use in different countries is easy copy paste. I know Korea also has fascists elements so the writer could easily be using that as an eexample, or could be going to the Mussolini and Hitler playbook (where fascism started). It always the same.

An excellent point. Even when I want to say that Heo's deliberate bombastic behavior on camera specifically reminds me of Donald, that's not actually true. Plenty of people like him have used the same tactic. I think the only thing that may *actually* be Donald-specific is that one line that came within a hair of "Make Korea Great Again," but even then only the slogan.

Dana

And that's not even original, if you can stomach it, Hitler says as much in his maiden radio address :(

Omg I'm also a 1st time watcher! Like I've heard of this series back when it first aired (and for some reason that I don't even know, I decided not to watch it🙃). I'm so happy Brittany started watching it cuz she got me right back to it and I'm enjoying this experience A LOT

it' s pretty much the textbook slide into fascism. Viki even translates the Dream Village project being called a concentration camp by YoHan rather than an asylum.

Chris

You so right! I feel like I get gut punched at end of each episode; the changes are insane! Also, the heroes (or anti-heroes....cough cough.....) are only as awesome as the villain(s) they are at odds with ;)

Chris

Someone please explain in ep8 the blood hair pin (?) or whatever it was in Kang Yo Han's Han after that choking scene with Jung Sun Ah. Whose blood was that? What happened that I missed?

Chris

Also, I don't know why exactly....but i am beginning to get 'V is for Vendetta' vibes.

Dictatorial Zukabert

I have an unhealthy obsession with Jung Sun Ah😍. Her presence is terrifyingly charismatic! I cannot wait to see your reaction to the rest of the episodes
