This series is so wonderful, so full of larger than life mythology and a wonderful balance of BL. Sorry for any past grumblings. This series is genius and totally worth the time it's taking. Which book do I read next? Can anyone point me to ANY canon content on the Water Master? Just stopping by to express how wonderful this series is. I'm finally inside all the hype. Finally! I totally get it now. :-) &lt;3

Never really thought about how confusing and mysterious and WHAT that ending music vid is with no spoilers/not having read the book. Like TGCF was already so popular when the donghua aired that everyone I saw reaction to it knew everything already. Yeah TGCF is A Lot.

This is FABULOUS and I can't wait for you to read the book! The donghua is of course great but I'm both more of a book reader and read the book first so that's the one I love more! When I first read it I devoured it every free second I had, couldn't stop thinking about it when i wasn't reading... I really wish I could experience that again...

Oh and also, remember when you rewatched the first few episodes of untamed and the title of that is literally 'they told me everything right in the beginning???' or something like that? Well tgcf is that x1000000 the rewatch value after you know the characters is off the charts. Same for reread value if that's your first... The attention to detail is insane.

If you haven't already you should also watch the animated version of mo dao zu shi, it is absolutely beautiful.

Answering your question "WTF just...?". It was veeery heterosexual montage of best friend connecting dots about his other best friend. Just bromance, nothing to squee over. And ring is only a present, nothing important. ಥ_ಥ For real tough I wached it while it aired. The wait was a torture, and ending.... (╯°□°）╯︵ ┻━┻

So delighted to watch your reactions to all the gay! So much gay! So far the donghua has been pretty faithful to the amount of gay in the book, but there's so much more to come, we haven't even scratched the surface of the levels of gay that there will be! FYI, the subtitles, as you probably know, weren't of the best quality. I do recommend, if you have the time, watching the English dub on Funimation, it's quite good, and the voices for Hua Cheng and Xie Lian are both great. Hearing them flirt their little faces off in English is really something quite delicious! I would LOVE to see your reaction to the Season 2 trailer. :D :D :D

2 minutes in and I'm laughing my ass off. They're just in the air, in a sand storm, gazing lovingly into each others eyes. No biggie. I forgot how ridiculous they are. My only complaint about this show is the subtitles are terrible. Very hard to read for me. The anime made it seem like only the soldiers were going to be blown up in the Banyue arc, but in actuality, it was everyone, soldiers and towns people, woman and children on both sides too. I feel that's important to know, I would have opened the gate too in that case. Lol, this is the whole million words. They just banter and flirt the entire series. Geeze, I forgot how gay that ending montage was.

YES the english vas are great! i'm so happy they got an actual mandarin speaker to voice xie lian, Howard Wang, and james cheek (hua cheng) has been so encouraging of the gay its great. He's even doing live readalongs

YAY!! i love tgcf with my whole heart and i cant wait for you to read the novel! Xie Lian is so sharp and funny, and while some of it comes across in the animation too, the novel really captures it with his internal monologue! (Sorry I'm a xie lian simp, hes so strong and cool). not to mention, the darker moments, because oof if you thought that head was horrifying. The animation opening and music tho is 10/10 top notch, i cant listen to One Flower One Sword without tearing up, its so beautiful. Can't wait for you to get into this monster of a series, theres SO MUCH that goes on!

I want so much to be in love with this show, and to feel what you and Kictor and everyone else is talking about. The graphic art is incredible. So I’m adopting your enthusiasm for the show until mine kicks in. Sometimes I have to sit through a lot of episodes of a show in order for the magic to take hold. I never know what’s going to do it. The main coupe is divine, but so little and far between all the plot, but something is telling me to hang in there because they have the quality and chemistry to be epic. I never used to care about that before Chinese dramas, in any form. I’ve signed up for the long haul. Each little taste of Xie Liang and Hua Cheng as a couple, is delicious, I DO admit. Episode 13 did strike a chord, the way Xie Liang was animated as he crawled on his knees over the bed while talking to Hua Cheng, was done with movie-quality motion and precision. It was so intimate, and now that I know what became of that “stupid” line about ‘If you don’t have anything to live for, then live for me,” because of Kictor’s YT channel, I must say, the promise of these two causes my heart to blossom. Literally blossom. (That was one of the most beautiful lines of dialogue I’ve ever heard! Nothing stupid about it!). That blossoming feeling is the feeling I’m addicted to, and that’s what I’m after. I’ll sit through hours of confusion and subplot for a taste of this bliss-nector. I know that’s cheesy, but those are the high notes in Chinese BL, that make it so euphoric and unattainable anywhere else. Censorship has pushed the Chinese BL industry into a whole other realm of aesthetics, visually, sexually, and emotionally, that I haven’t seen anywhere else. I love that sexuality is presented psychologically and visually, through male beauty and M/M attraction, and the fans totally pick up on it, without needing it to be spelled out for them. What’s covered is more mysterious than what’s revealed. What’s covered can exceed all expectations and dance in the imagination forever, while what’s revealed comes with a definite limit of abilities and potentials. Don’t get me wrong, nothing wrong with graphic content, but it fizzles out pretty quickly for me without something more to lure me along. I love it when a relationship is more than predictable body fluids, and Chinese BL fantasy excels at that. (Although, I’d pay to watch the leads of Guardian deliver some predictable body fluids, after a stellar plot, of course. I keep my porn separate from my art, however, both have great value. :-) That last video at the end of episode 12, was sooo beautiful and lived up to everything I’m waiting for in this show. Pure magic! I never knew I had a romantic bone in my body until Word of Honor. So thank you for taking yet another journey that I can participate in. I hope I get to watch season 2 with you, if there ever is one, no matter how long it takes. And brave the movie version with you, I’m sure, when it sees the light of day. :-)
