Ah..the beautiful beginning of "Lao Wen"!!! And how are you handling these two being close? I am so tickled by the fact that you get increasingly speechless as you watch the episodes. It is so funny to see and also good to remember when we were in your place sometime back. Also, when A-Xu asks Lao Wen about the name he mentioned and his deepest desires, he was asking about his own name "Zhou Zhi Shu". Not sure if you knew this already or not. And the dialog is dubbed over when WWX talks about dead mouse. The actual dialog was something about a "wedding night". That is why A-Xu looks scandalized. But, you know this dialog had to be removed.

It’s the flirting back that does it for me… And the gazing into each other’s eyes. This episode is really legendary and a great turning point for our guys. I really loved the face reveal and I’m happy A-Xu looks like himself again. Then again, Wen Kexing would love him anyway. Very excited for the following episodes! This was one of the episodes where they REALLY had to change the spoken dialogue and the lip synching does not match up. They could not get these things past sensors. In general - He doesn't say Mom with regards to the shoulder blades. He says Ah Xu's name. The big one - what he saw in the dream was not throwing a rat into his mother's bed. What he said was: Me and the person on my heart on the wedding night going to Wu Mountain (have sex) blissful forget worries can't be happier. - As per Avenue X. They knew there's no way the censors would let that pass, yet they still kept the camera on Gao Jong's mouth so that lip readers could get the actual line. The production crew behind this show is EPIC.

I love the way that ZZS immediately seems a tad more carefree, relaxed, and prone to SMILING when his disguise is off. Compare THIS ZZS to the one in the first episode - totally ice cold, not a facial expression to be seen apart from the occasional flashes of pain or grief. Now, after a longish stint hiding his face, he finally reveals himself - as dishevelled, relaxed, occasionally SMILING. If he was beautiful before, now he makes my heart seize a little bit every time I see him onscreen. Yes, WKX is beautiful - but I'm hard pressed to pick which one is the prettier.

i remember you said you blacked out when the reveal scene happened during the livestream and i was so curious ! LMAO it was the exact sAME reaction me and my friend had when watching ! also the mouthy bottom thing !!! Priest (author) has said that they like writing their bottom characters as if they were the ultimate top and it SHOWS. WOH has the softer, kinda more bottomxbottom vibes between WenZhou and its sweetness is absolutely tooth-rotting (in the book, their dynamics seem like a topxtop, gremlin version which is hilarious when reading fics bc the two versions are VASTLY different) ahh the mystery is starting and we have the whole chengling relocation plot and also whats that ?? kexing stirring up the pot in the background ?? ughh i cant wait for next week's reactions already ,,,

Believe it or not, this episode was originally even more gay and was then dubbed in a few scenes to pass censorship (still no clue how they got THIS past censorship but I won’t complain. And in case you’re wondering: The only scene that was added for the special edition was the rabbit cleaning one where they splash each other with water. Seeing you get increasingly more speechless as the episode goes on from the shoulder blades to the hurt/comfort (also one of my favorite tropes btw) to the flirt-fighting to the Reveal and the domesticity after that is very entertaining, particularly because that’s almost exactly how I first reacted. You’re getting to know Zhao Jing and Shen Shen a little more and their respective „parenting“ styles (I say „parenting“ because we all know Wenzhou are the real parents here). Also Scorpion King is here! And yes, Changing Ghost was in episode 1 as well. Argh, for every scene I’m looking forward to in an episode, there’s like 10 things that happen that remind me of scenes that are going to be in later episodes and I get excited just thinking about how you’ll react to them…

Not only is this ep super gay, but some of the dialogue was so gay, they had to dub over it. AvenueX has some great videos about fans figuring out the real dialogue by lip reading what the actors actually said!

Every time I watch THAT scene where Wen Kexing leans in close to tell Ah-Xu what he saw in his dream, I remember that it was Zhang Zhehan who taught Gong Jun how to make this scene even more flirtatious and I just.... am so, so grateful we had the actors we did for these roles. Plus, so grateful for Zhang Zhehan's face in addition to his acting. My heart still stops every single time I see Ah-Xu's original face after the reveal, he has an unearthly beauty that still floors me after multiple rewatches and gifsets of this moment.

Oooh, the face reveal. I must say, I thoroughly enjoy you getting progressively speechless as the show goes on and having to cut yourself off because of what’s on screen 😂 Just thought I’ll clear it up in case someone haven’t already, Yes you’ve seen that guy talking with Scorpion King in Episode 1. He’s from Ghost Valley and in Ep 1 was one of the ghosts lined up in front of the Ghost Chief. As for the girls not wanting to leave Gu Xiang and Wen Kexing even though they were given enough money to spend for the rest of their lives, you must remember that this is ancient China, where women weren’t exactly safe, especially women like those two girls who don’t know martial art. Having money will not uplift their lives if they do not have male relatives to vouch for them (as much as I hate it, that’s how Confucian society works). This is why so many orphaned girls like them end up in brothels in this time period. This is also why, as the girls said in the show, they were sold like animals all their lives. In the society and time period that they are in, it is completely reasonable and even smart of them to beg Wen Kexing to let them stay. He’s kind, he’s generous, and he does not treat them like they owe him. If I was them, I’d beg to stay too. I don’t think it’s discussed enough how healthy Kexing’s relationship with the women around him are. He is respected because of this. You can see that throughout the show and not just with Gu Xiang. Even A-Xu has his moments with period-typical toxic masculinity but Kexing, bless his heart, has always shown that he doesn’t give a shit about how a man or a woman is “supposed to act”. It’s never been about gender for him and I love him for that.

Zhang Zhehan's beauty really is on another level. Totally transcends gender. And now you've met Scorpion King. That was a big anticipation as well. He gives one of the best performances, and he does his own eye make-up. Both should be award-winning. It's so exciting to see his story unfold for you. As always, thank you for all your time, effort, and enjoyment with these videos. There's so much to look forward to. Going back to watch the rest of your video. When Kexing whispers in ZZ's ear what the Drunk Like a Dream made him see, the subs talk of a dead rat and getting into trouble with his mother. But what was actually said, and censored by subs, was Kexing said he was thinking about ... (paraphrasing AvenueX from memory) his wedding night and doing what you do on a wedding night, and 'going to the mountain,' which is a euphemism for experiencing the height of bliss. I've totally sabotaged that translation, but perhaps you will watch AvenueX's explanation of examining the real dialogue of WoH through lip reading instead of subs. The writers left hidden messages and faces were filmed so that lip reading could occur. They broke their necks trying to get the real gay essence to us. If some lines don't seem to make sense, it's probably been tampered with for censorship. This show is like an artistic revolution happening in China right now. Gay values are revolting as much as they can.

Btw, when people were watching WOH the first time somebody mentioned about the under water scene that A-Xu tested Kezing if he would jump in to find and save him. He did, so A-Xu trusted him and gifted him the removal of his mask. I thought about it more and I think that is right or I prefer to think that. PS. The actor playing the Scorpion King was meant to play Kezing at first, but I think he thought it would not fit him and there was some scheduling conflicts too etc.

Rewatching this episode gives me chills. WKX asks whether ZZS is really not interested in the glazed armor and also he asks ZZS if he is not related to the five lake alliance in anyway in later episode (right before he confesses ZZS is his soulmate) to double confirm he can really give out himself to love him fully. There is just so much detail when you rewatch the series that does so much foreshadowing and that contributes to legitimizing the two male leads' entire being. I absolutely love this show.
