Two new pieces I'm working on, and update (Patreon)
Content
Sorry for the lack of update the last few days. As I mentioned before, I am learning some 3D skills to help with drawing.
Over the last few months my output has really slowed as you all know, and I struggled to find motivation to draw. The thing is, it's not that I've gotten "lazy", because in all other aspects in life (work, freelance, etc...) I'm doing great, better than ever. I thought I lost my passion for drawing, but the truth is, once I get a piece figured out, it's really fun. So long story short upon introspection/examination, I discovered:
Coming up with ideas for pieces: fun.
Sketching the scene and figuring out what to put in <---- this is the part I absolutely despise.
Once scene is figured out, drawing pieces to completion. fun.
What I realized recently was that using 3D programs to scaffold the scene makes it fun again, and really easy. But I was always really scared of investing in learning 3D because I was afraid it would compromise my 2D work. I've since realized I was being stubborn and insecure about my lack of skill. The truth is I'm not that great at either 2D or 3D, and I've finally made my peace with that. I'm not as creative or as clever as I thought I was, and I need all the help I can get.
And so using 3D to help model and prototype scenes, experiment with camera angles, and experiment with lighting, will help make my 2D work more fun and enjoyable (and frankly, I expect my work to improve dramatically to since I've stopped being stubborn about learning new things).
The hand sketch above is a piece of our favorite blond cuckold girl, it started off as a 3D posed model in Blender, but by going back and forth between the 3D program and the 2D drawing I was able to flesh out a really beautiful pose.
The second is a screenshot rendering of how I'm using 3D to help prototype scenes. Capturing the exact camera angle, and exact pose that I wanted by redrawing sketcher over and over would've taken forever, really frustrating, and really killed my motivation to continue. Now I can just flip the characters around a bit, move the camera, and take a screenshot and draw over it, see if I like it, if I don't I'll make more changes in 3D, until I eventually get something I'm ready to send to 2D for actual drawing.
Anyway sorry to bore you all I just wanted to get this off my chest. I'll be posting more sketches this week for both these pieces and this time, they'll actually get done in a timely fashion.
Happy Halloween!
