Hey all, welcome to the first dev log! I've never really done this before, so be prepared for this to be pretty casual. The last thing I want to do is get on here and be super formal and professional about everything. I'm making a game I would want to play myself, and having fun making it.

Here's where we're at.

Right now, I've been waking up, working on the game, taking breaks to work on YT videos and to stream, and going to bed (with the exception of some family stuff). The majority of the time has been spent on getting a general look for the environment, and figuring out some new mechanics. I'll try to post a video here about it, but I've come up with a really cool new way to move the flashlight where the player is actually controlling the flashlight instead of the camera. We'll see how this works in testing, but so far it seems to create a much more immersive experience.

HANDS?!

I added hands to the player, compared to some recent games and Reincarnated where objects you're holding just kind of float. I'm hoping to do things like door animations, unlock animations, etc.

Collectables

One of the first things I was able to get working in the game was a new collectable system. As you play through the first chapter, you'll find different objects hidden around the map. This will be our primary way of showing lore throughout the game instead of notes or tapes. You'll be able to take these objects to a new area of the game where it will explain exactly what you found. It's pretty cool imo.

Movement

The camera bobs and shizz now. That's pretty cool. Pair that with the flashlight system I mentioned and I'm pretty happy with it.

Other stuff

That's really all I can say right now as far as actual gameplay stuff. I'll try to post some more videos and images here for Silver-Tier Patrons. Right now the bulk of the development process has been coming up with new character designs, contacting concept artists, contacting modelers, animators, etc. etc.

I'll try to also do another Dev Log at the end of this week with more info! Thanks for supporting the project :D
