A certain shop with a certain charm catches your eye for a certain reason. Why not take a break and have your fortune be told to you?

==========

Heavy rain, a bell rings and a door opens. A few seconds of walking is heard.

[Voice is distant]

It's quite a good downpour out there isn’t it? I’m surprised anyone’s out in it, aside from those water spirits of course.

[Walking, steadily gets louder]

Well hello there, what brings you to my shop at this hour? Not many people are even awake right now. Looking for herbs? An aura cleansing? Some late night spiritual guidance perhaps? The goddess knows we all need one of those at least once in our lives-

A tarot card reading?... Hm. Haven’t been asked to do one of those in a while. People nowadays are more into that whole crystal ball prediction stuff. What a load of garbage. Any guy off the street can use it to make a quick buck just by telling people what they want to hear and adding a couple special effects. What a load of crap.

[Sigh] In any case, please, step right this way and we’ll begin shortly.

Curtain opens, waking, curtain closes

Please, make yourself at home, it’s what all the pillows are for afterall. [Pause] Would you care for a bit of tea? I know it’s not entirely good to have something with caffeine this late, but hey, you never know. Sometimes a bit of tea can be quite… soothing. Seems rhetorical, but whatever floats your boat. [Light chuckle] Wonderful. If you’ll excuse me I’ll be right back with the tea and cards.

Walking, curtain opens, curtain shuts, muffled walking. Pots clink in the distance with humming. Curtain opens and shuts

I thank you for your patience [Pause] Here you are, some freshly brewed herb tea, specially made by yours truly. [Playful chuckle]

Glasses are set down, tea is poured

Now then, let’s get started [Cards are shuffled] shall we?

The whole process is rather simple. Well, for you at least. All you really have to do is sit there and watch as the cards tell you what’s to come.

We’ll start from the beginning, or rather your past. [Cards are shuffled again and one is turned over]

The chariot reversed… In your past I see anger. Frustration. A lack of control has lead you down a path without any direction to follow. You’ve suffered pain. Pain you still linger on to this day. You can’t seem to let it go, but let me tell you my friend, holding onto things will hurt you more than letting them go ever will.

Think of it like this… If you’re holding onto a rope that has a lot of weight on the end of it, dragging you closer and closer to a ledge, the rope will burn your hands, you’ll get very tired rather quickly and you won’t be able to accomplish anything. All you will be able to focus on is the pain the rope brings and the fact that you might get dragged down into that cavern yourself… but, if you just. [Quick pause] Let it all go… the rope can’t burn your hand, you’ll never again have to worry about falling into that deep abyss. You’ll be free of all worry and pain…

Just think about that for a moment… take a deep breath in… and let it out. [Pause] Very good.

Now, your present. [Card is flipped]

The Page of Wands, turned upright. Although in the past you have felt a great lack of control, in the current stage of your life you have found a sense of freedom. You no longer are a bird trapped in a cage, you’re free to soar as high as you please and wherever you deem fit. Your present is full of exploration whether that be of yourself, others, the world… you’re finding new things everyday and growing from those experiences.

It’s an exciting thing. Not always is it easy and not always will we find utter joy in our discoveries, but we are still growing none the less and that alone is a journey worth taking. An adventure to smile about. Tread wisely though. Not all paths you find are worth traveling down.

Finally, your future… [Card is flipped]

… Death. Upright.

What’s that look for? [Pause] It does seem like a bad card to get, doesn’t it? The cards don’t mean exactly what you might think. Death turned upright is quite good, especially when it comes to future readings actually. [Pause]

Before you say anymore, just hear me out…

In your future I see wonderful new beginnings. A major shift in who you are or the things you may be going through now, it’ll all come to a close, but you have no need to worry. When one door closes, another opens. I’ll be a new chapter in your life, if you will.

You have to be willing to let go of the past though. If you can’t do that, then you’ll never be able to move forward to this new beginning fate has in store for you. As I was saying before, you have to let go so you can put your energy into working towards becoming a better person. One who is more at peace with themselves Isn’t that what we’re all striving for after all? Peace with ourselves and contentment in all aspects of our own lives?

Your future is bright. Chase it. Follow your heart, use your head, and let your soul be free. That… is what the cards see for you.

[Pause]

[Cards are shuffled] I hope that reading was satisfying. You have a lot to look forward to. I wish you the best of luck.

Now here, if you’re finished with your drink I can take your cup. [Teacup clicks]

It truly was a pleasure meeting you and I’m very happy to have done your reading. I haven’t performed one in quite some time, so it was nice getting to brush up on my practices. Feel free to stay a while longer, but I’ll be closing up shop here in a bit. I need sleep after all.

Sure, I might be more of a night owl, but I can’t stay up forever. Although if I could, I think I’d have a pretty nice business flow… Anyways, again, thank you for stopping by. I believe you can remember your way out, correct? [Pause] That’s right! A left and follow the hall to the front.

Have a safe journey home my friend. Hopefully fate allows us to meet again, but until then, may the goddess be with you.

Goodnight.

Walking, door opens and bell rings, door shuts, rain fades out
