two finished drawings in the span of two days? whew!!! coupled with some slightly older doodles, because i love posting in batches.

i've been getting a little bit more used to gradient maps! i owe a big thanks to my friend Val for even telling me about them and explaining to me how it works. it's very fun and useful!

i don't paint that much, so i wouldn't know for sure, but i'd wager a gradient map is a pretty important tool in a digital painters arsenal. if your art program has gradient maps, i'd recommend giving them a spin! maybe they'd be fun. i know they are for me!

though, they open up a lot of possibilities for colours, so it sometimes takes a lot of back and forth and small small tweaks for like, 15 min, until i arrive at the finished product. i'm not particularly a fan of that, but if you are, hey! you'd love it.

in a way, it makes me appreciate the process of traditional art. yes, i do edit and use filters on my art once i take a good picture of it, but aside from that, when i do something on paper, it's said and done. no undo, no small opacity tweaks, no gradient maps and fiddling with the smallest things for too long. it's a little scary to think about making a mistake, but i kind of appreciate the finality of it all. it takes much less time for me to make a traditional drawing than it does a digital one, simply because of no takesies backsies.

though, now that i know how to use gradient maps, not even my traditional art would be safe, if i remember to use them. oh well!

thanks for reading my little ramble and i hope you've all been enjoying my content so far. also, i'm not sure if i'll make it, but i'm trying to make a small veigar animation for his birthday next month, and if i do, you'll definitely get to see it first!
