FRAMES RENDERED: 8035 of 21725
Whew. I'm not sure how to describe what I've been going through this past week, but in short: STUFF KEEPS BREAKING. The more complicated rigs keep breaking completely and I have to manually fix a bunch of stuff, the shaders keep needing to be re-done because they won't render properly, ALL of the dynamics need to be constantly re-worked and re-baked, I keep seeing mistakes in my renders and I have to go back and re-render a bunch of stuff, and on top of that 2.8 is very very crashy. I can't tell you how often I've screamed in frustration from the times it's crashed on me. I'm pretty sure it's because I'm working in files optimized for 2.79 or maybe the number of dynamics or maybe it's just because it's so new, but I have to keep breaking my files into smaller and smaller bits because 2.8 just can't handle everything.
But regardless, I'm getting some great results. I'm really happy with how a few scenes in particular turned out and so-so happy with others. I wouldn't have been able to do this with 2.79 with how many re-renders I've had to do so I am quite thankful. This is exhausting and I'm only about 1/3 of the way there. But it's getting done and that's what counts. Despite all the hiccups, solid SOLID progress is being made and I am working around the clock.
I'm really not sure how much longer this is going to take. On one hand, all my shaders are now working, I know exactly how to fix the rigs when they break, and I've got a pretty good lighting workflow now. I've gotten a way better handle on this than even last week, and I expect to be able to adapt to the problems even better as I continue. But on the other hand, something else can go completely wrong that's completely unrelated to everything I'm doing, which is highly likely. Nonetheless, I'll keep pushing.
