You're totally right that it's subjective but on technical skill alone, I think Namjoon is the best rapper (I actually think he's kind of a prodigy--like his Cypher 3 verse...how on earth does he pull off a flow like that??) and then j-hope is my favorite because he's got incredible skill and musicality and is so exciting and unique. Yoongi is a passionate, emotional rapper but I think he has the least range so I always know exactly what I'm going to get from him. It's always great, but I just appreciate that Joon and especially Hobi have lots of variation in delivery and genre. They have lots of different types of sounds and skills (again, especially Hobi). That's true even in their lyrics--Yoongi says exactly what he means in a really raw, direct way (which is really powerful and adds to the emotion for sure) whereas Namjoon and Hobi both employ a lot of wordplay and stylistic form (Joon does more poetry and prose and Hobi does more abstract, referential, or onomatopoeic things) and I like that there's a lot to dig into and discover there. But all that being said, I think the three rappers in BTS are the best rappers in South Korea and some of the best in the world period so, as you rightly said, it comes down to preference. They're still my Top 3. One of the things I think are so special about all of our rappers too is how their personalities are all very non-traditional for rappers. Yoongi is soft and quiet and gentle, Joon is erudite and obsessed with nature and art, and Hobi is this bright, exuberant ray of sunshine whose brand of cool is kind and confident (and androgynous). They just break all the rules and that makes them so unique and special.

Yeah, RM was so insanely talented at rapping that when he competed in the underground rap scene at 14, he had grown men scared to go against him. Other underground rappers would say that they wished they had his talent more that Eminem or Nas. Even Yoongi felt a little threatened by him when they first met, because of RM's reputation in the rap scene. Personally, I like all of them for different reasons and have a hard time choosing, but I can see why people might prefer a specific rapper. They all have such interesting and distinct sounds to their rap.

I connect most with Namjoon's lyrics and find Yoongi's rap to be the most emotional, but I always end up gravitating towards Hobi's verses and think he's the best when it comes to live rapping (his stability is Insane). Hope you check out his lollapalooza performance when you have time!

And they all complement each other so well. Like it's crazy that they sound so different and have such distinct and different styles and yet when they come together, it's so organic and seamless. You can't just fake that kind of stuff...this was some fate kind of happenstance or magic or something because it shouldn't work and yet it PERFECTLY GLORIOUSLY does.

Blood sweat and tears explanation. The music video is heavily based on the book demian by herman hesse. You are correct.jin is the main character and is supposed to be innocent. I tried reading the English translation of the book(og in German) but I found it to be a difficult read and gave up(kinda boring). But I got the jist of the story. So Jin reps the main character in the book. Taehyung represents his guardian angel kinda. The whole book is about Jin’s characters discovery that the world isn’t split perfectly into good and evil or black and white. Over time he learns the nuances to stuff and realizes there’s a gray area between good and evil. If u look at the music video coloring,in the beginning the colors contrast a lot portraying the polarization of good and evil that Jin’s character persieved the world as. But as the music video gets on, the colors middle and(the color explosions) representing how the world is no longer is black and white. At the end Jin’s character ends up kissing taehyungs character(quite progressive considering the book came out in the 1910s) anyway I barely understand the storyline but thought I could at least tell u what I think I know. And the quote rm reads in the middle of the video is a quote from the book. There’s even photos of rm reading this book on his own time.

It's a shame that you couldn't check out Mic Drop which was right under Black Swan. I can't wait for you to listen to it because it is addressing the haters and a fan favourite. It is rap heavy so I think you will enjoy it. Also, I glad you enjoyed Black Swan because it's actually one of their more underrated songs. And yeah you must have heard little bit of Blood Sweat & Tears before because it is everywhere on TikTok

if u scroll back to his reactions to J-hopes album/mixtape reactions on Patreon he reacted to some songs from the Lola performance. I don’t think he reacted to the whole set but has portions of it

BS&T is a challenging song and music video to explain because it's a part of the BU (Bangtan Universe), a storyline that runs throughout their music videos. I'm not very knowledgeable on this subject, so if anyone knows more, feel free to correct me. Overall, the album Wings, on which BS&T was featured, was inspired by the novel "Demian" by Hermann Hesse. The novel follows the character Damian as he navigates from childhood to adulthood, facing the temptations of that age. This theme is also reflected in the music video, where Jin kisses the statue, as well as religious imagery such as the black wings, the statue of Jesus and Mary, and so on. You can research more if you're interested, but overall, it's about temptation, desire, and the trouble it might cause oneself if succumbed to that temptation.

You had a great understanding of all the themes going though these songs! Not everyone grasps it right away!

I agree, in a pure rapper sense Yoongi is the best. RM is a poet and you can feel that in his flow. J-Hope's rapping is just like his dancing, it's like the beat lives in his body. They're all phenomenal yet when I think of Kpop rappers, Yoongi is the first that comes to mind.
