yea the guy with the bald hairstyle is called peniel!! He is a guest host on the podcast.

Also with how the show goes, it is not an elimination type show, the ranking only affects next episode's performance order and the amount of benefit you win depending on the rank you achieve, putting the first place team ahead with point advantage essentially.

Yay finally we've begun our kingdom journey!! I think Road To Kingdom was a survival for smaller groups (in the sense that they were mostly less recognized/famous groups), and the prize was to earn a spot in Kingdom, which was the "main" reality show. That's why The Boyz is the only group that went through that. Also, you are not wrong,, Hyunjin does leave the show after this episode unfortunately.

Lina 808waterwings

Can we have a spot for spoiler not spoiler comments? Example I have Iconic Felix clip in my mind I don’t want to ruin for everyone. Wait I’m fine. I can hold on. Let’s go Stays! Git it!

Sax_88

Yayyyy I'm excited to see your kingdom reactions!

I feel like iKon were made to have that laid back, hype stage performance. I dont mean to generalize, but early YG was a company that had artists like that. iKon was created to be a successor of BigBang, and they exude the same energy on stage. The YG energy if I may say. However I'm not a huge fan of YG lately and I believe iKon left the company and are going to release music again soon! Also Bobby and Peniel grew up in the US (but don’t speak mucn English in the show). If you ever want a look back at laid back hip hop style groups, I suggest BigBang (or maybe just watch some lives on your own, some people think their controversial)

Nathaliew03

You were actually correct in your assumption about the small guy being the leader of iKON. He wasn’t always the leader tho bc their old leader B.I left the group due to some drug allegations which is a big NO NO in the k-pop industry and Korea in general. He left so the whole group wouldn’t suffer bc of said allegations but he's now a solo artist. Edit: He left in 2019 so he was not part of this show

2024-01-14 14:13:05 Just an FYI for future episodes. They will only have a few group performances per episode (3 max I believe) because they show how they decided on a song, their rehearsals, and any other behind-the-scenes stuff before showing the actual performance, so if an episode is 1 hour 45 mins long...it will be 15 minutes of a recap and set up for the episode and 30 minutes for each of the groups that will feature in the show that episode. As many of the other comments have stated, there is no elimination in this competition, and to be honest...the rankings aren't really clear, or timely (if I remember right we don't even get the final rankings to the 1st round until episode like 5 or 6). The only rankings that I find interesting are the ones they do among themselves. They can't vote for themselves, but they get to vote for their favorite 3 performances so it gets interesting seeing who each group liked. The groups also don't get to interact with each other much on camera, due to COVID restrictions, which is sad, but most of the groups are familiar with each other and have interacted with each other at some point. Peniel is acquainted with Stray Kids, for instance, but they've all seemed to have been instructed to at least play down how well they know each other (with the exception of Wooyoung, LOL). That is until their "Field Day" episode (#6) where they are able to mingle a bit more. You'll also notice members of the groups coming and going...Like Huynjin, there are those who will "disappear" due to scandals (one of the TVXQ Hosts)...some will go out because they get sick (one of the BTOB members) and come back, and some of the SF9 members (I think) will be gone due to prior personal commitments. At the time of this show, at least two of the group will also have a comeback, and members from both ATEEZ and SF9 are filming the KDrama Imitation (Highly recommend). A lot of the members from SF9 are actors. Chani, for instance, has been a ton of dramas...fun fact! He was in a TVXQ music video "Balloons" along with iKONS Chanwoo and Astro's Moon Bin (who we lost in April this year). There is a bit of controversy because of the budget that happens during the 1st round...each team was only given $5,000 for props etc, but one of the groups utilized props from their tour, so no extra money was used, but it basically made the other stages seem a bit underdone. Due to the complaints, they had to revamp their rules in order to be fair to everyone. Sorry for the long post. I just thought you'd like a little bit of info to help you out, especially when deciding when to stop/restart an episode. If you have someone that could work with you (so as not to spoil it) you can let them know what format you're thinking and they can tell you when/where to stop, skip, jump to the next episode, etc.

2024-01-14 14:13:05 Since it was a global thing I’m actually surprised btob was so high up since they’re more popular in Korea but I’m glad they ranked up. The Boyz for me should be 1st place. A lot of the rankings that happen aren’t what I think they should be though which sucks every time. I actually love all the groups but I always chose to rank them due to my thinkings not due to who my faves are which is how it’s supposed to be tbh. The Boyz for me definitely had the best performance. Most impactful for me at least

I loved kingdom the show and all the group interactions. Stray kids and Ateez are one of my favourite. It was a shame that how poorly Mnet treated Ateez during this time. since they were the youngest and from a small company. There is a lot of things that happened to them behind the scenes which are shocking. There is whole controversy that happened where koreaboo's were accusing Ateez of special treatment when it was the actual opposite. you can look into it in your spare time if you are interested. PS I loved this reaction <3 <3 <3.

Omg yes Kingdom finally, btw ur right after this first performance Hyunjin goes on haitus. Btw if u didnt know Wooyung and Changbin are best friends like seriously! They seem awkward but everyone's actually pretty good friends with each other, especially Skz, BTOB(Bee 2 Bee) and Ateez Btw many of the other members of BTOB were enlisted in the military at the time & bald guy is named Peniel! He is one of the main radio host with Eric Nam in "Dive studios"

Nat

the way I come back after far too many days of exam and term paper hell to find this reaction here is a fucking gift, thank you soooo much for starting to react to this! It's gonna be wolfed down asap huehuehue

Finally! Been waiting so long for this one lol

The thing with iKON even though it was an awesome performance I think they were the only group that completely lipsynced to the point where Bobby didn't even try to look like he was singing. It's not a shade I didn't mind it as a viewer but compared to the rest of the teams who did live vocals on top of hard performances it has to be considered as well!

Ivona

The groups had to perform a song that got a win on a music show, so SKZ were only able to choose from Miroh, Levanter and Backdoor (this was about half a year after Backdoor/In Life era and more than half a year before Thunderous/NoEasy era). God's Menu sadly didn't get any wins...it's a travesty but it is really difficult to get a music show win. I think they chose Miroh because it was a song that got them their first win, so it's very special to them. I think you should check out their MAMA 2020 performance. Mnet invited them to perform at MAMA after announcing them as Kingdom participants. SKZ, The Boyz and ATEEZ all performed there as a sort of a teaser. SKZ kinda snapped and delivered a mindblowing performance of Victory Song and even though they were not nominated for any awards there, they were considered the (or one of the) best performances of that night. Noone was expecting anything from them. It was really funny. Hyunjin also had a special dance performance with Juyeon of The Boyz and San of ATEEZ. You should definitely check it out when you have time. This video includes both the SKZ performance and the dance performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkp47FEi-b8 I also really love this Kingdom performance film. It's a 5-minute-long video, which was kind of a teaser for Kingdom, where each main dancer of the groups has a short performance. I am biased and Lee Know totally slayed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKQEfIOSKW8

Viviena

I'm pretty sure they were. All groups except BTOB had back tracks but they also sang quite strongly at places.

Tatiana

I just started watching this with another reactor but I was excited to see you did it as well so I’m watching both 😂 I heard about how bad ateez was treated during this. They called them a group of seven instead of eight cause mingi wasnt there which is highly disrespectful. Then the room they have them in like their sitting wall to wall with on folded chairs yet some of the smaller groups have couches in their room.
