This gets even more heartbreaking when you know this is the only time lee know has cried in front of cameras, and he was doing well trying no to cry until chan hugged him. He really tries to be strong for the other members :')

I feel like one of the most frustrating things about JYP eliminating members is that he is very much looking at the members as performers. So for Lee Know, at the time he was the most unstable, because he was so inexperienced (he'd been there like maybe 4 months or something). However, because of how Stray Kids work as a self-made team we know that he was more than just a performer in the group, he was their dance leader, and vital to helping the others perform well, and helping Chan manage his work load and stress -you could see it when he stepped in to help I.N in the 2nd episode. So whilst from JYP's point of view you can completely understand that he has to hold them to a standard for the good of everyone, you sort of want to yell because in eliminating Lee Know he didn't just remove a performer and friend, he removed a vital cog in their machine. Like even after elimination, he's still helping them with their dancing in a coaching role. But eliminating him leaves Chan with another thing on his plate he has to look out for- the dances. The frustration I always felt was- why are you not looking at what he brings to the team in general? But on the other side, these guys are going to be evaluated by the wider world as performers, so that is where the ultimate standard must be kept. I can be zen about it because I know they all come back, but it still hurts a lot and retrospectively you get mad because you know now how absolutely vital each member is to the SKZ of today. I also really liked the lecture JYP gave. Cultivating your personality is just as important as your skills. It's so easy to get swept away in a role where you're maybe 19 and you're getting a tonne of attention but also pressure and the public will all have opinions on you and talk about you. Forming a stable character that knows how to stay focussed, and feeling confident that you conducted yourself the best you could with self-awareness are really key to getting through the social struggle side of being an artist, outside the actual art.

10:45 I’ve always gotten the vibe that who takes the reins (between 3RACHA and Lee Know) depends on the situation and timing. As a member of the producing team, Changbin is definitely deferred to, even by Lee Know, when discussing the albums and songs. You’ll see Binnie take the reins in interviews (when they feel more free to speak in Korean) that talk about the songs’ meanings and creation. Lee Know, as the second oldest, prefers a behind-the-scenes role — his tsundere nature just WILL NOT let him expose himself — but as a hyung and the dance leader, he assumes the de facto leadership position when Chan is absent (e.g., introducing SKZ, answering questions, etc.) and during dance practices. You can see he takes his role as second oldest VERY seriously; even here, like Chan, he’s struggling not to cry so as not to burden the other members. This episode breaks my heart.

https://youtu.be/bgYJNYOawIc you should react to “ 3 men in colourful pants” . it really shows 3rachas funny dynamic

of course hyunjin is obsessed with changbin too, but the way they show it it's different so changbin seems like he's more obsessed usually. hyunjin shows it with physical affection while changbin goes all the way to that + literally able to scream it at the top of his lungs lol

Chan has seen so many of his friends leave or be eliminated throughout the 7 years, he doesn't full-on cry, while it is happening. I think he's more in denial. He has talked a few times about how his trainee days numbed his emotions and only really opened up a out it and cried in front of Stray Kids and Stays last year at a concert. Also Lee Know was trying to comfort the younger crying members but broke down when Chan (his only hyung) hugged him.🥲 Welcome to our shared traumatic experience.🤭

Changbin is Chan's second-in-command when it comes to their music (and a shoulder to lean on for everyone), Lee Know is his second-in-command when it comes to dancing, feeding and spoiling the members and also scolding them (plus he is completely in charge of the second Chan-less dorm right now). They both agreed together they are Chan's hands (Lee Know his left and Changbin his right) and try their best to support him.

Please check out 'Chan and Changbin made a song on vlive and it was...unique' and then 'three men in colorful pants (10% 3racha, 90% laughter)'. The video clips is so funny 😂😂.

Another heartbreaking thing... After the elimination, Minho walked back home when it was raining because he didn't consider himself worthy enough to take a bus

You’ll rarely see suengmin cry unless you rewatch this show. We’ve only seen him cry a lil like 1 or 2 times during a concert in the past 5 years.

okay so this episode is obviously heartbreaking, but about Seungmin and being emotionally open/vulnerable: maybe you can check out the Making Of MAXIDENT and their artistic opinions about the album and love in general; imo there it becomes really clear how deeply Seungmin actually feels about his team (and the fandom) and that he holds them all very close to his chest

What you said about Lee Knows role and everything his elimination meant: absolutely. About JYPs speech: What he said contains a lot of truth, but its something you either learn in young childhood or never. My parents taught me when I was like 5 and continued to teach and reinforce. For me the speech is just overly preachy and overdramatic. The fashion in which he delivered the speech alone shows he has no leg to stand on, not to mention his actual fashion, the price of which could probably feed a family for a year. And speaking of compassion: After you just tore their friend away from them and negatively impacted his and their future, do you really think these boys want to hear a lecture from you? Because of the position they are in theyll have to smile and hide the resentment a lot of them probably felt, so if you really think that is the time they need a lecture on compassion (the irony), how about just getting a staff or trained professional to do it? It would probably hit way harder from a teacher anyway.

I see ppl saying this but never have I seen a source. Until then - that is not true

Lee Know was added to the lineup somewhat last minute. He joined trainees literally just few (I think two) months before the show and he didn't have any vocal or idol training before that. There are speculations that he was added to unburden Chan in the practice room as an experience dancer (as well as an additional visual) and this is his role till today.

I've been crying this whole episode, I've watched Minho's eliminations hundreds of times and still cry, same with Lixie :')

I’m binging your videos chronologically and you probably know by now, but just sharing in case anyone else wanted extra information . The reason why Seungmin cried the most is because he’s the member closest to Lee know. He’s Leeknow’s first friend in JYP. The rest is just me over-sharing because rewatching this while knowing more behind the scenes context made me cry again. These two have been roommates/dorm-mates for the longest time and they talked about this in their older 2kr and vlives, but these 2 were particularly close. They are just more off-camera about their friendships so people generally don’t know about it. Leeknow only had 2 months of training before he was pushed into joining the survival program. He went through extreme weight loss and had a deadline to fulfill so he was always tired. Leeknow originally wasn’t part of the og skz members Chan picked(which is obvious when you think about how he literally only joined 2 months before the survival show). It had to be really awkward as someone not part of their huge clique and he was in an unfamiliar environment too. Just imagining the mental and physical stress he was in during this period is crazy. Leeknow always talks about how thankful he is to Seungmin because Seungmin always helped and stuck by him when he was new. They are great at maintaining their divorce couple concept, but they are always together backstage. Watching Leeknow and Seungmin, the two non-cryers in skz cry like that absolutely destroys me.
