I had planned to talk while recording this but i have totally lost my voice from some kind of throat infection/laryngitis so I identify currently as a squeak.

This is my current top volume XD SORRY!

Video 1 - Standard drawing

There's nothing wrong with drawing ropes this way but it can be time consuming and you have to be a bit more accurate in your where you place your lines

Video 2 - Using a silhouette and clipping

Here I'm using Sai but in CSP its in the layer settings and 'Clip to layer below or this little button to save time.

With this way of working you can go wild with your main shape, have all these looping ropes because its so easy to just take them away.

Because you're clipping the layer too you can be messy with your lines because they can only be within the shape.

The last aspect is turning the coloured layer white so it looks like a plain line art or you can leave it red for that pop of colour.

How to do this?

1. go into the hue/saturation or brightness contrast and raise the brightness so it goes white

2. add a clipped layer above the shape and fill it with white

Video 3 - Applying to a figure

(This video is taking a bit longer to process but all can be downloaded to watch)

I used some gestures I had done but you can draw whatever pose you like. Place the rope shape in whatever configuration you want - personally I don't know how to do Shibari properly so I usually reference it but this is a drawing so it doesn't have to be correct as long as it looks fun. Artistic License!

Work this the same as the second video and then after I have the ropes done I would go in and add the indents on the skin that the ropes are making.

You can keep the ropes separate if you like but if you would rather to have all of your lineart on one layer then I recommend merging the rope layers.

>When merging its always best to work from the bottom up so that if you  have different settings on the clipping layers they don't get removed accidentally and you spot it too late to fix it.

Multiply your rope layer and erase any of the lines underneath it before merging it down.

Now its all on one layer!

If you need anything explained more clearly let me know!

For people who aren't able to view i can also do an image post if that's preferred!
