Jimin Study Process (Patreon)

Got the basic shape of his face and hair. I just break it down into shapes and angles - makes it easier to draw. Using the marker tool for the majority of this picture and the pen here and there. You can find the pen i use for inking under the brushes tag.

Put a grey layer underneath because i wanted to exaggerate the lighting some. In the original photo it's very subtle - everything is really gentle but you can still make out the shadows it you observe it closely

Added a new layer for more detail. I was pretty much using only black and white at this point and relying on pen pressure. By creatign new layers it means that i can continue to be really light with the black but it acts almost like a multiply layer onto the ones beneath it.

Lastly was highlights and....more highlights. I was trying to go for something a bit more stylised here. drawing an outline around the highlights. This serves no real purpose other than that I thought it might look cool. It kinda works. I'd like to play around like this again.
