Quick discussion from stream

Lat was mentioning that hair can be a pain in the ass to draw

-

one of the most important lessons i learned in life drawing re hair

was not to try and draw each hair individually

but i break it into chunks

so like

once you have your skull (always draw the skull first)

and then the hair after

you can use the blocks to help with the direction of strands too. When you're drawing in the hair you can add details with the strands and whatever you need.

and then when you hide it

you can add as many blocks as you need

also you could try starting from under lilke

which will help with defining segments

it makes it a but easier

and you'll block them naturally over time

You can add as many blocks of colour as you want too depending on how intricate or simple you want it to be

That makes so much sense. Hair is always a pain in the butt to draw for me.

I really love this blocking approach to hair. Usually I just use the “start from the root” but I still struggle especially with volume. I think this will be insanely helpful!! Thank you!
