The boys decide to celebrate Prompto finally turning 18 by dragging him clubbing.

They were not ready.

Neither was prompto, he had to moogle what to wear when you go clubbing - he probably should have taken it with a pinch of salt but no ones complained yet.

Prompto spent a lot of his teen years utterly unsupervised and he may have introduced himself to the clubbing scene a bit early out of a mix of nosiness and an attempt to distract from his self destructive inner voice.

Noct turns 18 and Gladio decides it would be hilarious to take him out. Ignis doesnt trust Gladio alone with Noctis and Prom is still 17 so they figure they'll just omit the outing to avoid hurting feelings.

Running wasn't Prompto's only cardio - he had had made friends with the dancefloor over time. It also gives him his fill of human contact so he isn't utterly needy for Nocts attention when they hang out. 

He certainly stands out in Lucis for more than just his hair.
