Iedolas implies that all Prompto has going for him is that he will look good for whoever they arrange for him to marry, an expensive bedwarmer.

Its said so often that eventually he gives in and just starts dressing as is expected of him.

Later at a negotiation, Iedolas is having a meal with the person he wants to buy out and the man is half listening to him as the rest of his attention is on Prompto. 

This is the first time in so long that prompto is complimented by his father. 'A useful distraction.' Prompto wants so bad to be wanted by his father that this is high praise in his eyes.

After this Iedolas starts bringing Prompto to meetings under the guise of learning the trade, and as expected, more often than not heads turn and attentions are divided and Iedolas gets his way.

When he weds Noctis Prompto is able to tell them all of his fathers weaknesses, all of the people who are hostile towards his father. They all assumed, even Iedolas, that he was just a vapid blonde, sitting there like a trophy. But Prompto was payingmore attention than most.

Regis turns to Prompto to ask

"And the Chancellor, what is his weakness"

".......me."

Noct also tries to subtly let Prompto know that he can wear more clothes

"Am I not pleasing to you?"

Noctis is flustered "I'm pretty sure you're pleasing to everyone D: I just wondered if YOU were pleased to dress that way"
