Every time Paul plays that gatekeep sound, it cracks me up. xD

Paul's issue is he doesn't understand what generative AI is, and that it's not the type of AI he's thinking of. As soon as you learn how generative AI works it demystifies it and you realize it's not AI as you thought. So he thinks he's arguing about general AI and everyone keeps trying to explain to him that's not what chatgpt is, but he just hears "ai can't be smart and think!" He's not hearing what people are actually disagreeing with him about.

I also want to say that good points were made on the human centric focus we place on this. Many things would be different from us if the AI became conscious. Take our emotions for example. They aren't just something that occurs in our minds. Our physiology plays a huge part in the felt qualities of our emotions. There are many different sads, and for each kind of sad there is yours is probably subtly different from mine because of your body. A machine has no flesh body, so if they had something like emotions, they would probably be very different from ours. I suspect we would not be able to comprehend them

The thumbnail isn’t working so I almost mistook this for an abandon hope or sloppy seconds. Love old style episodes I know though they don’t get the same stats and money as onion nuggets but still nice when we get them 😃
