"Electromagnetic CANDY!" I love that they brought the Budong back and that we got to see a living one this time. A neat beastie and one of the better giant space monsters in scifi if you ask me. It also affords us some great Stark craziness. :) As you said, two Johns, in a weird way, ups the tension. In a lesser show it would deflate it, because you can lose a John and still have him. But since we have no idea which John is "original" we are forced to treat both as original and therefore the death of either one would be emotional. Similarly, the other characters on the two ships see their John as the original John. And without a second John around, it is easier to treat him as himself, which just reinforces that their John is the real John.

This episode was actually written by Ben Browder which I think is pretty cool - you can tell he really knows these characters so well having been with them since the beginning. I think that's why this episode also feels a bit different to a lot of the others. I like that as jealous and hurt John is by the thought of Aeryn and Crais hooking up, he admits he has no right to tell Aeryn what to do - I feel like a lot of male leads are more possessive of their love interests to the point of thinking they have some kind of ownership of them. You can also tell John/Ben has waited his whole life to say "That's no moon" 🤣
