Awesome reaction! I love hearing your 2 cents! Everyone had the same feelings as you, mate. Seeing Ash's fate always brings on the tears. From what I heard, the director had actually considered changing the ending of the original manga (for something happier) but they thought it better to be faithful to the original material. There are 2 side stories in the manga if you're interested in checking it out - one that follows how Ash met Shorter, and the epilogue of what happens to Eiji several years after the ending. (It's supposed to bring closure, but I still found it heartbreaking. Read at your own risk!) Cheers and can't wait to see your next anime!

Loved your reactions! I just want to clear up one thing. I also hate how this show ended but Lao actually had a good reason to kill Ash. He left the Chinese gang right after Sing asked Ash to fight him one on one to settle the dispute between the gangs. As far as we know he didn't have any contact to any of the members after that and we all know if they fought Ash would win. Lao didn't know that Ash saved Sing from falling to his death or that they called of the fight so he thought if he wasn't going to kill Ash before that Sing would definitely die. It's really sad and frustrating because he did have a good reason from the knowledge he had. Also Sing is now left behind with knowing that Lao attacked Ash (I'm sure he can figure out it was to save him) as well as Lao being dead from Ash shooting him. Everything is just sad and I'm not ok....

I didnt even think about the duel being the trigger for this, so thanks for bring it up. Man such a good show, so sad it mislead me thinking it was going to have a happy ending 😭😭😭
