I'm trying to get more serious about improving as an artist and patching up some weak spots, so I've been doing timed pose exercises where I give myself just 3 minutes per pose to do a rough sketch.

I used one of those websites that shows randomized reference photos of models in different positions and angles, on a timer that automatically moves on to the next picture after 3 minutes are up.

I took some liberties sexing up these poses with added muscle or bewbage, sometimes inspired by the pose itself. For example this anguished body language made me think the girl might be having some back pain from some huge knockers:

This pose made me think she was washing her hair:

With more time she might have been a pirate girl swabbing the deck:

Swimming or flying?

Action landing:

Some of these are only half-bodies because I ran out of time, like here I spent too long shading the ninja and didn't leave enough time to finish the next sketch, which was becoming a Victorian vampire:

Angy:

The ticking clock really adds some excitement to the sketching and it's nice being able to do 10 poses in 30 minutes, then decide which (if any) are worth continuing.

An elf doing some magic finger waggles, or maybe putting on a puppet show:

A mischievous maid: (yes that's a futa bulge)

For so many years I thought these kinds of exercises were just a waste of energy and I should spend every minute of available art time on something worth finishing, but now I'm seeing the value in this type of practice!

Out of all of these, my favorite sketch is this girl feeling up a muscular leg, presumably at a strip show.

She gave me an idea for a new character: say hello to Grabby Gabby!
