People were asking what connection Casia has to the Snake Nation. So I will make an answer to the question.

---------------------------------------

Nenea was a regular girl from a small jungle village protected by the powerful snake gods. Snake gods watched over and protected all creatures who lived in their lands. Life in remote villages was serene, and people trusted their gods. Everybody knew they lived in peace only because the gods hunted evil outsiders and drove them away. Stories told how strangers came to the lands, took people with them by force, and hunted monsters for fun.

Nenea had a strong connection with snakes, and villagers guessed if she would be taken to the temple as a new servant. But, unfortunately, before the gods came to visit the clan of Mut'peri, that randomly harassed village started to do their harm. First, it was noticed how cattle had wounds, and small animals disappeared. Then dark elves took large water buffalo, and only bloody traces were left. Harm made by Mut'peri was growing day by day, and villagers were defenseless, although they were not harmless folk.

Snake gods couldn't help villagers against Mut'peri. Also, Mut'peri and even feared tentacle-faced Tsiraks were protected by the gods. So villagers were on their own against dark elves. Fighting against warriors that moved like shadows was pointless and dangerous. Villagers had tried that. So, they waited until the dark elves would leave their demand. Dark elves didn't appear very often. They come once or twice in human life. The last time they appeared was over half a human lifetime ago. Usually, dark elves wanted one of the village girls as a gift for them.

It was not different, but they wanted a snake girl. So sacrificing Nenea, a regular girl from an ordinary family, was not a difficult decisison. Usually, someone from a typical family was chosen as a sacrifice. So sacrificing the daughter did honor the family. Giving Nenea hurt village elders more than just some random girl because having a servant from the village would have done honor to the whole village.
