Inna was not a fighter or warrior. She was just a regular village girl from an average farmer's family. Because she was the only child, she was loaded with the huge responsibility of knowing all the details about farming. She was supposed to be the head of the farm until she married. Her family was happy because a beautiful girl with a rich heritage was something that other families noticed, and there were more than enough candidates asking for a marriage deal. However, Inna herself was not that interested in the idea of marrying and having a family. Naturally, she desired that but not yet. She knew how her role would change when she would be a normal wife to the farmer.

One fatal evening raiders from the river attacked the village. Nobody knew why the attack happened, but people said that two ships passing the village had turned into a river bench and launched a surprise attack. Inna was not a fighter or warrior but knew how to hold shields and axes. Everybody knew. They lacked support from the duke's guard, and the battle-hardened enemy made the fight desperate.

Most people had escaped to the castle rock after an hour or two or lay dead on the ground. Inna was still fighting with a few boys, but she was tired. Finally, she managed to escape the fight and walked the pathway to the castle rock. Inna was dizzy, and every place in her body hurt. She walked slowly, focusing only on the next step she needed to take. Inna had no idea what had happened to her parents, and horrible imagination took over her mind. Boy, she liked, had died next to her just before escaping. Shield and ax were heavy, but she held those like they were her last hope. When she was honest to her shelf, she knew she was so tired she would not make it to the castle rock. It would be best to hide in the bushes and see what happened later.
