This story will be a baseball one-shot, inspired by sports manga. It'll be about a man from Japan who travels to Philly because his father co-owns a baseball team, and he decides to play to help them out, using his skills as a samurai to play the game. the idea is that he'll have the ability to strike the ball at any point on his bat and use fantastical techniques to help the poor team win. I'm still working out the plot and how he gets caught up in it. Jackie Chan's American movies are also an inspiration, so side characters will be pretty varied and weird/funny.

I'll have to spend some time learning how to draw men swinging baseball bats, gripping them, etc, as well as learn about baseball rules. But now I feel like I'm ready to take it on, this sheet is just some practice to try and capture the feel. The main character (who I'll name something predictable like Ryu" will hopefully look better than he does here. I want a fierce face since he'd be sheltered living a rural life in japan learning the ways of the sword. Also I want the coach to be named Lewis.

Philly is my home town dude! Outside of my own personal bias, I also love the premise too. It's like contemporary Samurai Jack(ie Robinson).
