Alright, enough lovey-dovey Rose and Pearl content... HA! Just kiddin. There's always gonna be more.

This week's episode is very mellow and contemplative, but I have been wanting to address Earl's feelings. They're complicated, to say the least. Does she know anything about Rose beyond the surface level 'Homeworld Rebel'? No. Does her intuition tell her there's something more there? Yep.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens....

Ooooo yes😁 I've been waiting for a build up to the Rose-Earl conflict. Expose those awkward feelings for Both of them!

What I interpreted from this panel was that, Earl generally dislikes the idea of rebels and rebellion, but she's finding herself warming up to rose personally because Rose reminds her of pink diamond.

I got the feeling it is implied that Earl dislikes the idea of rebellion because that would mean rebelling against pink, not just homework.

Am I to some extent correct in my guesses at Earl's psychology?

Oh earl you silly gem only if you knew... good job chekhov!!

You're actually right on the money, yeah! She also has no idea Pink is dead so there's the added conflict of, well, Rebelling against Homeworld means Rebelling against Pink. And seeing Rose just reminds her of that, and she's stuck in a loop of conflict!

Ask Steven & White Pearl is everything an AU should be. You take the characters and events, flip something around, and let it all just progress organically from there. Despite how divergent events and even character development is becoming, the characters remain true to the ones we know, and the ways they grow and react to the altered flow of story remains spot on. I am just constantly in awe of how well you capture the voices of the characters. You've created a version of the Steven Universe... Universe... that feels just as full and realized as the official one. <3

Thank you!! That's honestly one of the best compliments I've ever gotten; thank you for taking the time to write such a kind comment!!

Having done a bit of study into ASL, I have had a decent job of sussing out the signs that Earl is doing, but the one in the last panel of Earl, I can't quite place. It doesn't quite match to any of the words she uses in that panel.
