Private Emma O'Neil gets to know the place and people she'll be working with, as well as figuring out a curiosity about military rank and grade structure.

Juni is there to explain things to her...

This is all the color I can do without resorting to the "Lasso" tool. Everything so far is mostly point-and-click, with only a few brushes. A *lot* of progress gate made at this stage.

Then I start filling in the camouflage by sections on each uniform. I do this because camouflage uniforms always have seams and patches and pockets, and absolutely *no effort at all* is made to make sure the patterns line up when they are sewn together. So a big brown splotch on one side is cut in half by a seam or pocket, and the other half looks completely different. I don't know why I pay such attention to detail about this but I do. It would be easier to leave the uniforms featureless and blank, drop in a camo pattern, then draw pockets, etc, on top of it but for some reason I just never liked the idea. Now, after 10 years, I am engrained with this.

...aaaaannnd the finishing touches! Shading, etc. I used to do the amateur (but very understandable) shading on people where I used a really dark grey at 10% opacity. I've seen a million and one YouTube tutorials where it is recommended to use a darker and slightly reddish version of the character's skin tone to make shading on people, which is what I do now. It *does* look more natural, IMO.

See you when it is done!
