Inspired by an actual briefing talking point. When you're in the military, you have "SGLI" which is "Serviceman's Group Life Insurance" and the monthly premiums are around $24.00. But when you retire, you have the "option" to go to VGLI, or "Veteran's Group Life Insurance", and the monthly payments are... $1,800.00 a month. Because you totally have that kind of money as a retiree, right? 

Really, you should switch to a civilian insurance before this becomes an issue, since getting insurance in old age is hard. Or better yet, retire in someplace like Portugal.

It's enough to drive you to drinkin'.
