"Empires" Doodles (Patreon)

Some doodles I made as I began to switch things from "furry" to "sci-fi". I have, from time to time, tried to imagine just some basic things about the re-imagined "Empires" universe and as I do so I make doodles and sketches to preserve my ideas. 

Above: dogs and cats still exist in the Empires universe, but they have been joined by another favorite pet called a "Rajel". It is pronounced more like "ruh-zhel" and not like "Rachel". They're medium-dog sized, and have some tree climbing ability but not as much as cats. Physically, they're probably more comparable to a cross between foxes and raccoons. They are loyal and companionable like dogs  and good with kids.

A very early starship from way, waaayyyy back in the history of the "Empires" setting. Long before the Central Alliance there was another government called the Djeriessi Hegemony that was the military power of their time and was responsible for contacting and loosely uniting a lot of the worlds of the current setting. They were led by a sort of royalist dynastic house of "merchant nobility" types called the House of Djeris and they were more interested in exploiting markets than really unifying anyone. They eventually failed and after a couple hundred years of planets and systems having local rule, the Central Alliance was founded. 

In the Empires setting, the House of Djeris still exists as a political force on their home planet of Illorion, but not as powerful any more. They tend to be quite arrogant and insist that any success the Alliance has now is primarily because of all the heavy lifting they did Back In The Day.
