Not a bad convention! The convention was held last weekend, over the 24tth and 25th of August. I got to mix with a lot of creative types and I actually had something that was all my own to sell at my booth this year! Last year all I had was the "6x6" comics you see displayed here to the left. In one of them, I wrote a story and another guy (JT Millstead) did the art. In another, someone else wrote a story (Jake Scholl) and I did the art. Neither of them have anything to do with BOHICA Blues.

The picture above was taken just a few minutes before the doors open and the Release of the Hounds of commerce!

My neighbors (the "Sketch Rats") let me use "Jerry", their stuffed Llama, so I could pretend I had an employee.

I also got visited by Krypto the Super Dog, fresh from the 1st Dog Costume contest.

I got to talk to Ron Randall, the guy that does the sci-fi action series "Trekker", and he gave me some advice for leveraging future comic books. Hint: look for a Kickstarter campaign in the future.

Overall, I got some interest but for the most part the crowd was looking for anime, Pokemon, and other stuff. Animated series in the realm of "Adventure Time" type stuff were also popular. I still paid off my table fees before noon on the first day and got a significant chunk of change on top of that so it's not like it was a wash. I learn something each time, especially now that I am publishing my own things and not either riding along with someone else's publication or selling fanzine reprints like I did in the 1990's.

More art projects will come in the future, of course, and the guy that did the "6x6" comics and I have been brainstorming and hatching plans as well, so we'll see what the future holds.

Overall a good convention and I look forward to next year!
