I generally do not like to do portraits of real people. They never look right to me. Many years ago I gave it a try --you can tell how old these are because Tony Blair was still PM of England, and Vicente Fox was still just a candidate for President in Mexico-- I wasn't happy then and I am not entirely happy now.

Yossi Sarid, an Israeli politician at the time; I don't remember now what he was all about but at the time I did this he was in the news a lot. This was when I lived in Israel, around 2001 or so. I was doing some professional artwork for a company called Eric Cohen Books; they did illustrated books for learning languages and I worked on, if I remember correctly, a book for Greeks learning English. I thought I'd try my hand at portraits of real people to see how I did (and if I could parley that into more paid art gigs) but I knew after completing these that I was better off just sticking with what I knew.
