Hey y'all! Here are links to the (hopefully) ad-free compilations I published while I was away on my birthday trip.

Every once in a while I get a note from someone that they saw ads on the ad-free videos. Have any of you noticed that happening recently?

Long story short, when I first started a separate ad-free channel to host these on, YouTube worked differently than it does now. Back then, ads only showed up on partnered channels. In more recent years, YouTube has been inserting ads on non-partnered channels (ads which YT profits from, but the non-partnered channel doesn't see any of those funds). As far as I know, there's nothing a non-partnered channel can do about this.

Since ad-free videos are a primary perk of this Patreon account, it's obviously an issue if this continues to be a concern. I've considered alternate options, but it's a bit daunting, so I don't want to start working on changing my whole system here unless I'm certain that it's a continuing problem that's affecting y'all.

All that to say: Could you please let me know if you're noticing ads on the ad-free videos channel? It's just not something I have access to from my end, so the only way I can know is through individual viewer reports. I've had few enough reports over the past couple of years that I'm hoping they've been some kind of fluke/isolated incidents, but if it becomes clear that it's more of a widespread issue, I'll get to work on figuring out an alternative solution.

Thanks so much y'all!

Love,
JB

Just played Sci-fi Ear Exam & Bionic Implants Part one from 3 weeks ago to test, and it had an ad before the video, and another ad mid-video about 11 minutes in. (Using mobile app)

I tend to use Firefox with uBlock Origin, which blocks ads on YouTube overall (I've never paid them and haven't seen an ad on the site in +5 years as a result). I figure I balance out the lost ad revenue by supporting creators directly on sites like Patreon and KoFi and the like. I'm sorry that YouTube is making it harder for you to provide this perk, that's just incredibly frustrating!!
