My theory is something made his outside look like his inside. I.E. Because he had a beautiful soul the universe made him beautiful.

In the manga before the talk on the bench, he sees how serious Miu is and so he focuses more and tries harder to fit the theme. shame they cut that out.

The handkerchief is not even a thing in the manga and the outcome is the same. Though the guy does threaten to press charges till the cameraman shows he recorded the whole thing.

He puts a lot of points into luck to try and get better drops and right after he does in the manga he heads out and every single crosswalk is in his favor never has to stop once except to save a little foreigner girl from getting run over who he then speaks to in her native tongue.
