The Opening has like the first one a lot of Character Spoiler, they show again Characters that appear later on first. After i watched it, i think they adapt up to Volume 5 or even Volume 6 of the Light Novels into the Anime, and some characters are from this Volumes, which would mean we see them first between Episode 17-24 ( or 25, dont know how many Episodes they make for Season 1) Think about that Crystal Ball and the Footage they made like a normal Camera, they altered the Material in the Church to show the People the " Evil and Mad Devil Shield who killed the Royal Knights and take Melty as a Hostage" The King dont want Naofumi go to Siltvelt because, the Shield Hero is like a God for the Demi Humans in this Country. Sadly they let that Detail out in the Anime. She set up a Fire in a Forest to blame Naofumi for this.

And thus another reason for the deep seeded bias/discrimination/hatred of Naofumi, the Shield Hero... is the revelation that the official State Church worships only the Sword, Bow, and Spear. Generations have been taught this prejudice by Melromarc's religion... Oh, and on the reverse, the other extreme nation, Siltvelt (demi-human supremacy), worships only the religion of the Shield.. hence the lengths Malty's going to make sure he can't enter that country, she'd lose the scapegoat used to make Motoyasu look better after all.

And now this point is sorta hazy for me, but I don't believe that Aultcray Melromarc (King) would ever authorize an assassination attempt on Melty, or Malty too, since it was shown how much he loves them. Given the matriarchal state of the country, it's pretty much Myne controlling all the strings, and the knights (prejudiced by religion) cannot refuse orders from the princess, even if she isn't crown princess. Lol So like Naofumi said, it's basically Myne's power move to assume full control of the country.

Exactly and honestly, the king is a victim of his daughter. He loves them both and wouldnt hurt them. He mentioned losing his family oncr. Must have been his parents. He blames demi humans. I want to see his past before passing complete judge.
