Hey Deep Peeps! What’s your favorite Deep Look mushroom video? We’re featuring these videos and more at a KQED Live event, A Deep Look at Mushrooms: Fantastical, Fun and Functional on Weds., Jan. 24 from 7-9pm PST at KQED's headquarters in San Francisco. More info about the event is here.

If you'd like to join us in person, message us on Patreon and we just might be able to get you some complimentary tix. You can also register for the free livestream off of KQED Live's YouTube Channel from the link above.  Hope some of you can join us!

Also, have you come across any wild mushrooms recently? Got any new mushroom story ideas for us? Let us know in the comments.

And if you can’t make it to the event or the livestream watch our mushroom video collection here.

Cage Fungus: When the conditions are moist and there is plenty of mulch to feed on, the cage fungus produces a fruiting body that looks and smells like rotting meat. (Josh Cassidy/KQED)

Bird's Nest Fungi: This bird’s nest fungus species is known by the scientific name Crucibulum laeve. The part of the fungus that looks like a nest is known as the ‘splash cup,’ and the ‘eggs’ are sacs that contain millions of spores. This tiny fungus grows on twigs or logs on the forest floor, or on mulch. (Josh Cassidy/KQED)

Death Cap: Mature death caps in West Marin’s Point Reyes National Seashore in December 2016. A piece of tissue called the annulus helps identify the death cap mushroom. The annulus can be shaped like a little skirt, or like a ring below the cap. (Gabriela Quirós/KQED)
