We’ve got a special episode of Deep Look coming up that’s a collaboration with another series within the PBS Digital Studios family: Overview! Overview is part of PBS Terra, the home of other science and nature shows such as “Animal IQ,” “Antarctic Extremes” and “Out of Our Elements.”

Hosted by Joe Hanson of “It’s Okay to be Smart,” Overview uses drone cinematography to explore the natural phenomena and forces shaping our planet from a 10,000-foot view.

For this video, Overview producer Michael Werner and USGS researcher statistician David R. Smith worked with cinematographer Kevin Collins to film horseshoe crabs at Slaughter Beach, Delaware.

Collins also filmed in a lab to show the horseshoe crab eggs developing and hatching over a period of two weeks. He had to keep them perfectly hydrated so as not to interrupt their growth process.

This episode premieres next Tuesday, Aug. 31, but Patreon supporters will get a sneak peek this Friday!
