As we chugged along producing several new episodes this past June, the Deep Look team was unfortunately still quite restricted in terms of what – and where – we could film due to the ongoing pandemic. While we couldn't travel to more far-flung locations where we could find carnivorous plants in their native habitat – like the furthest reaches of Northern California that's home to cobra lilies – we were fortunate that our series producer, Craig Rosa, and his wife Shannon have an diverse and thriving collection at their home.

After getting a shot list and instructions from producer Jenny Oh via email, lead producer and cinematographer Josh Cassidy filmed alone out on their patio and in their spare guest room so he could maintain proper social distancing during his shoot. Luckily, the Venus fly traps, pitcher plants and sundews are quite small and easily portable, so he was able to move the pots in and out of his makeshift set without any trouble.

You can learn more when this episode premieres on Tuesday, July 28th. Our Patreon supporters will get an early look this Friday, July 24th!
