It's Almost Time For Me to Bid Deep Look Farewell! (Patreon)
Content
Hello Deep Peeps,
We've had a wonderful roster of talent working on Deep Look over the past seven years, and I'm so thankful to have been a part of this talented team. (I've also worked closely with many of these same colleagues on other KQED Science projects, so we're a pretty tight-knit group.)
In addition to producing episodes, I'm usually the one sharing news and updates here on Patreon about our work –– so I hope you enjoyed our behind-the-scenes updates.
Back in 2014, when the series first launched, I produced one of my favorite episodes to date: "What Gives The Morpho Butterfly Its Magnificent Blue?" This video actually inspired Ph.D. candidate Aaron Pomerantz to apply to UC Berkeley for his graduate studies – and years later, he collaborated closely with lead producer and cinematographer Josh Cassidy on the recent episode about glasswing butterflies.
But "The Curious Webspinner Knits a Cozy Home" is probably at the top of my list – and we were recently honored with a San Francisco / Northern California Emmy Award for this video!
Starting next month, I'll be pitching in as a producer on two other PBS Digital Studios series: Above the Noise (which is also produced at KQED) and another national series that's currently in development.
Thank you all for being such great fans! And if you have any questions for me, please post them below, and I'll do my best to answer them.
All the best,
Jenny Oh
