One of the biggest challenges with producing a great Deep Look episode is finding the right subject – so we're fortunate we often get the opportunity to collaborate with scientists who are passionate about their research.

For our upcoming video about webspinners, an insect that shoots silk from their front feet, producer Jenny Oh worked with Janice Edgerly-Rooks, a professor of biology at Santa Clara University She's been studying webspinners for more than 30 years and is one of the leading experts on this fascinating insect. Not only was she helpful with providing background research and specimens to film – you'll catch a very brief glimpse of her in the video, too!

And her husband Edward Rooks, an award-winning wildlife artist and photographer, accompanied us on the shoot to take these behind-the-scenes photos. We hope you enjoy this episode which premieres next Tuesday, November 19.
