I usually would put some flavor text here something like: The Darkling is the Old Gods answer to the creation of the Succubus. But I'm gonna provide some "production speak" here instead for a little meta building.

Up until now, I've only hinted at a demon's "power" over other beings in Spellbound. And that takes the form of the succubi's tempting power or her aura. That power stems from the Goddess where it is her power she leases out to her succubi in order to tempt, lure, corrupt and transform others for the purpose of ascension and adding to the Goddess's presence.

Likewise, the older demons in Spellbound (like Lilith, Leviathan, and their children the Darklings) essentially have this same power. Only they do not use it sparingly. As their only purpose for it is to consume and make themselves stronger. They simply apply their dominance and if the being is weaker it submits. As you see here in this short comic.

Yeeeeees, even a succubus is not immune to the power of demon sight. This poor acolyte is far too low on the totem pole to overcome this darkling's raw power. She cannot resist the suggestion of "wouldn't you rather be a bundle of writhing dick tentacles?" and is so transformed, feeding the Darklings power and consuming the succubi's will and identity inter itself.

Clear as mud?

That's okay. These are things I will explore in much more fantastic visual fashion in future stories instead of typing it out here. They'll be more digestible and less exposition-heavy. It's an important building block in the lore of Spellbound and I wanted to visualize and conceptualize it here.

There is much, much more to it but I'll save that boring lecture for another time.
