version - 0.89 - 6/1/24 Happy pride month! :D

Hello everyone!! We've got another polish update for you all, tryna finalize stuff before the Steam Release. World art, dialogue art, etc. We're still trying to get our goal of 10k steam wishlists, so go forth and spread tha link!! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2693710/HARDCODED/

Also, Winter Cyan has made us another Wonderful and Dope song that has been sprinkled throughout the game, so keep an ear out for that!

I'm sleepy as fuck, friends. I was up extremely late doing a Foolish Thing. I'm attempting to port hardcoded from godot 2.1 to godot 4.2.

"Why", you may ask? By which i assume you mean, "Why were you going to release a game on steam using an ancient engine when there are multiple new version available to you? You dipshit?" And the answer is this: I still might! Idk if I can get everything working on 4.2, and it doesn't really matter, right? The game works just fine on 2.1, and its not like its going to automatically become less janky if I port it. The jank is part of the charm! It's how you know that game dev is accessible even to the dumb of ass. But just in case I am able to port it, here are a few goals:

  • I want to add steam deck support. Not just getting it run on the steam deck, which I already have, but adding some controller/touch oriented support.

  • I'd like a persistent game object from which I can control music. Currently, the UI scene is reloaded every time you, idk, enter a map location, or start a scene with a character, etc. I want music volume control, sfx volume control, the ability to change volume from inside the game.

  • Mac support. There's a strong chance I wont be able to support mac when we release on steam.

Anyway, these arnt promises, just big deal refinement things that I've been craving for a while. What do you think? Also, thank you everyone for your continued support!!

Will updating the game reset my progress?

So, no Mac on steam, but will I still be able to acquire a Mac version?

Ooh awesomesauce :3. Good luck with the port either way, excited to see it on steam for visibility as much as anything. Random question but - since you mention game dev stuff - would you ever consider making a like, game dev tutorial video series for skillshare or something along those lines? Or something slightly interactive ala Mark Brown's platforming-jumping-physics-simulating-game-thing? Maybe a like game dev 101 series and a specific-to-GODOT tips n stuff on how to get started for a keen aspiring game dev horny tran with an IT background but genuinely dumb of ass on the programming and general game dev front? Just throwing ideas into the wind. In any case; so excited for release, get hype!! :o
