What a thrill this film was!! I was so enthralled with the special effects and the soundtrack and the themes of meddling with power beyond our understanding and messing with the forces of nature. Incredible Movie! Enjoy :)

Rhetorical Thrill

I never took Hammond trying to go turn the circuits on as questioning her capability, I always assumed it was just an old school "honor" thing. Like he thought he should be the one taking the risk. If you like Malcolm, he's the star of the sequel. It doesn't touch this one but it's not horrible either.

Great reaction! This is a wonderful movie, and the book is terriffic too. I love how you can find elements/scenes from the book in each of the first three movies. Btw, have you seen ”Tropic Thunder”? If not, it would be awesome seeing your reaction to it (esp. as an Aussie). I’ve been rewatching some Robert Downey Jr movies leading up to the Oscars, and ”Tropic Thunder” is my favourite performance of his.

You were a bit rough with John Hammond lol. and game warden Muldoon. Muldoon didn't know the raptors would ambush him. he wasn't a paleontologist(none of them were which is why Grant and Sattler were so knowledgeable). he knew they were the worst predators on the island which is why he was so concerned...hence he goes on the offensive with his hunting and the "clever girl" which is a funny meme. They had kept the raptors contained in their pin and hand fed them....they never observed them hunt(enter Grant's exposition). I don't believe this movie had a villain...Hammond wasn't playing god because he was some greedy capitalist scientist...he said why he wanted to make dinosaurs, he wanted to make something that wasn't an illusion like the flea circus...and said everyone has the right to enjoy the dinosaurs not just the rich. and I don't think he was being sexist despite Ellie's comment...he was probably being chivalrous because he probably thought old school, and it was his mess that she was cleaning up. remember why the plot of the movie was happening, he needed experts to sign off on the island, so he needed everything to go right during the tour...that is why he didn't want to cut the tour early because of the storm, that is why he kept downplaying all the glitches...he needed all this to go perfectly, but Dr. Malcolm was there to rain on his parade. Even Dennis Nedry i don't believe was a villain...he was a greedy prick who made terrible decisions that got 3 ppl plus himself killed. he turned off the fences because he needed to escape in 18 mins and the fastest way was to turn off the fences so he could drive thru the park. (reckless yes, but not villainous). now, on to some fun stuff: the dinosaur roars were a mixture of animal sounds. the TRex was a tiger and elephant. the raptors were dolphin screams and tortoise grunts. the Brachiosaurs where digitally slowed donkey brays. anytime you saw CGI, you saw an entire dinosaur's body...anytime there was a close up with a partial body, that was animatronic....they didn't make full body animatronics. so the TRex animatronic was only the top half of the body(also it continually malfunctioned on set because it was drenched in the fake rain and it wasn't water proof). Mr. Arnold(Samuel L Jackson's character) had a death scene planned out, but it was scheduled to be one of the last shots during filming and unfortunately, a tropical storm delayed and cancelled his flight and Spielberg had to kill him off screen. I literally watch jurassic park every year since i was a kid....im 35 now lolj
