Nah but for real that was kinda disturbing the direction they went in this season. I love the themes of trauma and shame being the forefront of this season and there are a couple new characters I already adore!! Enjoy :)

i fully believe that Brenner was actually kind to the kids before the massacre happened and the massacre is what made him a horrid person to him. and Eleven was 7 years old during the massacre as she was born in 1971 so she was almost 8

Yes!!!! This season feels like another show at points, but my gosh is it worth it. It feels like a break from the light hearted respite of the last 3 in parts and really gets into the darker side of the characters…

also, Chrissy was Bulimic thanks to her mum always fat shaming her and vecna took advantage of that trauma and used it against her to kill her, thats what the vision was in the bathroom and also before she died, especially her mum on the sewing machine "loosening the back a little" for her and all the flies over the food because she has a bad relationship with food thanks to her Bulimia

Can’t wait to watch this when I get home from work! Yeah, they definitely went with more of a horror vibe with this season in particular. I remember watching episode 1 for the first time and I had to watch in between my fingers. 🤣

I'm happy if we can help you have a better life, you sound like a genuinely nice guy and you deserve it :-) Stranger Things was always supposed to be a horror show, but with kids they didn't dare go too far at first. Once they started growing up they decided to go all in from season 3, and omg it makes it even better than it already was! The payoff in season 4 is fantastic and I really can't wait to see your face for some of the future episodes, the last minutes of episode 1 were already epic lol

Few things about ep2 I want to say, I really like that they show Jason having a healthy reaction to hearing about Chrissy, where they could’ve easily (and cheaply) played him off immediately as the emotionally suppressed ‘jock’. Another thing, the most heartbreaking part about the episode is the date in the corner of the video camera - is Will’s birthday! From S1 or 2 where he is interrogated in the shed 😭

What makes the current villain of Stranger Things so good (in my opinion), is that he is almost entirely practical (the moving skin is static while filming). The actor had to sit down 8 hours to put on that suit every day they shot scenes with him. I also want to stress you to not look at any behind the scenes material about him putting on the costume, since unfortunately there are major spoilers to be seen in the background of those videos.

I have to agree with not looking anythjng up. I was looking up an actor on imdb and a spoiler was in the list and I was so mad at myself because it was THE big reveal. So if you want to be surprised don't look up anything about season 4.

Great reaction! I also wanted to suggest a show called peaky blinders. It’s a really good show that’s a similar length to stranger things. The acting and storytelling is sooo good. It’s really popular here in the uk, I don’t know whether you would have heard/seen it before! Love the reactions, keep it up!

The horror is amped up this season. That first episode left me stunned the first time I saw it and it took me some time before I was ready to watch the next one. It is a great season! Eddie and Chrissy had good chemistry together in that short amount of time. It’s too bad she was killed so soon.

This isn't my favorite season. It definitely leans heavily into the horror genre. The best part of the season is what Eddie brings to the cast and the chemistry they all have. He's so much fun. Well, for a guy who saw what he did. 😆🙃

When I watched this season the first time it was with captions on and if you think the visuals are gross, the words they use for describing what's audible are even grosser lmaooo Really happy you're moving up in the world - so glad to have found you and to be here making it happen for you in whatever small way each sub does. :) :)

Speaking as someone who is the only single guy in his entire circle of friends, you just have to get used to the girlfriend taking priority in a serious relationship. If I acted the way Will acted my friends would slowly hang out with me less and less becuse they felt like I was craping on the relationships they're in. I'm the single guy it's my obligation to pick up the slack in the friendship so to speak. Don't get me wrong I understand Will's frustration but at the same time, he is not making it clear that the neglect of his friends is really bothering him. He's just whining hoping that they can interpret what he actually wants. In this case Mike is right, it shouldn't be all on him to maintain the friendship.

The skating rink scene would never have happened at the rink I went too. I was going a lot in 1986, and the owner was very strict with his rules. There were always at least 1 if not 2 referee's on the rink and the D.J. would not hesitate to call anyone out who was trying to start a fight and have them removed. They would not have been allowed on the rink with any food or drink or even that video camera. They would have been made to get off the rink and sit out a while. If it was bad enough they would be escorted out and banned from coming back and thet have even called the cops on people that were dangerous. I get what they were going for. They were going for a Carrie vibe. It's just that would have never happened. At least at any of the rinks I frequented. But it does make you "o.k." with the fact she stood up to Angela. And I was bullied about that bad in middle school. The person and her group would go out of their way to make my life miserable. Some people are just mean.

Also how you described Max’s trauma and her fear of opening up is extremely accurate. As someone who also has quite a bit of trauma especially being an SA survivor, for some of us as you said, it’s extremely difficult to be vulnerable for fear of it not just completely destroying you, but also the fear of it hurting others. It took me a decade to open up to a trusted friend. What you said really resonated with me for sure.

Lmao, you poor thing! You looked like you needed a hug while you processed the end of the first episode. I loved that you didn't bother holding back when you shouted "Bitch!" at Angela. So glad they added Eddie and Argyle to represent the alternative to the typical 80's preppy/nerd character. Vecna is gruesome, he makes my skin crawl...but not as much as Jason does! He's such a tool.

I love how this season re-introduces D&D. The shift away from it in S3 (even from using it as a metaphor) made me sad, so it was such a delight for it to come back so strong, especially with Eddie as DM for Hellfire and bringing Erica in!

I'm never one to defend Jason cause of what he does later on (hopefully you know what I mean) but I don't think he was a bad guy. I think he was just blind by anger and grief and wasn't thinking clearly. If you think about it, Andy's worse than him

This show has to grow with the characters (and the audience). Sort of like Harry Potter, all of our main kids are hardly kids anymore, hence the darker tone. I personally applaud them for going for more mature themes, such as trauma and grief. It makes for a really emotional season, and it was definitely the right move; it makes for a natural progression as our protagonists mature. This is easily my favorite season, and Vecna makes for a terrifying villain. The stakes will be higher than ever before, so hold on tight! But don't worry, this season still knows how to have fun and has plenty of humor!

Season 4 is amazing! (There are tons of easter eggs all over the place, but I won't post any until you are done!) They definitely dialed the Horror up to 11 (as you said, and I'm pretty sure the pun was unintended)

YESSSS! A new season!! I’m so excited! My only advice for the S4 episodes: TISSUES. You will need them (especially during the final ep, because… well, iykyk). I was most unfortunate to have learned the hard way, as someone who is also very sniffle-prone 😭👍🏻 Also, I’m sure you’ve already noticed (you’re very perceptive) but Vecna certainly enjoys torturing his victims with his ability to cause hallucinations, typically based on that person’s trauma. This is why we get warped visions and voices of Chrissy’s mom and the other dude(forgot his name)’s flashbacks to accidentally killing another guy. Vecna’s also closely associated with the sound of chiming clocks, which (fun fact) has actually been a present since the first season. Remember the grandfather clock chiming when Will Byers crashed his bike? That was no coincidence. Also in S1E1 the Byers’ front door opened telekinetically—demogorgons don’t have telekinetic powers so it’s likely that Vecna was the real culprit. Quite fascinating hey 😄

Seeing Steve and Robin just makes me so happy that back in S1, they liked Joe Keery (Steve) so much that they decided to keep Steve on the show with a redemption arc. I remember watching an interview with Joe Keery and he is actually 10 years older than the “kids” and he was talking about seeing them grow up over the course of the show. Introducing "Vecna"...the bone breaker. Eddie Munson is one of the coolest characters ever! Loved Eddie! Some well known actors in Stranger Things include: Winona Ryder, Paul Reiser, Matthew Modine, Sean Astin...There was a huge clue about Will, and why he feels the way he does for Mike...remember back when Mike, and Will were arguing once, and Mike says..."I can't help it if you don't like girls" to Will...THAT tells you all you need to know, right there. Even when they were still really young......

Something is going on with Will. Hmmm... By the way, something unrelated to what I just said, it was Will's birthday during episode 2 of Season 4 and the writers forgot to have it mentioned. They completely forgot it was his birthday altogether!! It looks like Will is all alone and like, "Why did everyone forget about me and my birthday???" But I THINK something else is going on inside. In regards to not having seen any Winona movies it could be so fun if you were to react to some of them! She is iconic! One that has a special place in my heart is Girl, Interrupted, based on a true story. There is Heathers which is such a 80s campy horror thriller. There is the halloween classic Beetlejuice (a sequal has just released actually!). Yet to see Edward Scissorhands but she is in that one too. She is such a legend 🤩 Oh and in term of El hitting Angela with the skate, as someone who was bullied when I was El’s age that was sooo satisfying. Perhaps “violence isnt the answer” but in some cases I just wish I could have said “screw it”, and let people have had a taste of their own medicine. Why should the bullied have to be the “bigger person”. I love when characters take their power back

Oh my gosh, I forgot about that opening scene! When this season first premiered in the US, it was only a couple days after the school shooting in Uvalde Texas, so Netflix added a content warning at the beginning that said, “We filmed this season of Stranger Things a year ago, but given the recent tragic shooting at a school in Texas, viewers may find the opening scene of episode 1 distressing. We are deeply saddened by this unspeakable violence, and our hearts go out to every family mourning a loved one.” 😢 This season is definitely the most disturbing of the 4. That being said, it's still really good, and I can't wait for you to watch the rest!

BIG SAME. I kept hoping it might come up in the first couple of episodes, even just a cursory mention of Hellfire. But, alas. :( Still, as an avid D&D player myself, I was just happy to see them bring some integrity back to the game itself, rather than it standing in as something childish and borderline stupid, which some of them were outgrowing. This felt like a return to the S1 D&D vibe and that was a big relief.

Honestly, I remember a LOT of people not liking Mike much at ALL during this season because of how he treated Will. Like, Will's side is understandable because he's trying to stay out of the way of Mike's relationship with Eleven. But Mike telling Will 'maybe you should've reached out more' just tore a lot of things sideways because Will has been trying his damndest, as far as we've seen, to be on Eleven's side and try and make things better for her. Yet Mike just WILL NOT hear him out and is blaming Will for things being different, for not being told of Eleven's situation. I mean, it's understandable to me that Will thought Eleven would've been telling Mike the truth the whole time they've been gone what with her whole 'friends don't lie' obsession since the beginning of the show basically. But it is also understandable that Eleven, who finally has people who care about her and after the experiences with Hopper last season, wanted to at least make it seem to Mike like she was happier than she actually was. Wanted Mike to feel like everything was okay. But, like... things just went so far downhill so fast for everyone in these first two episodes, and it only keeps going from here. Jeez. It's so chaotic.

I’m currently catching up on your reactions for this series (sometimes the vids won’t play properly, they buffer for minutes, then play for a few seconds, and repeat) but I’m just jumping in here to say that this seasons is one of my favs out of any tv-show. I think they’ve done a brilliant job with the villain being an allegory to mental health. I’ve got more to say about a later episode, but for now, just… enjoy. 🙂 Oh, also, if you decide to react to ”A Quiet Place: Day One” you’ll get to see Joseph Quinn (Eddie) give a great performance.

It's really difficult to see someone who was always on Will's side, the one who ABSOLUTELY, UNEQUIVOCALLY believed that Will was alive beyond anyone else in the first season... and now all of a sudden doesn't even seem to really care that Will is... hurting and having troubles. Like, shit.

i saw a meme that was like "mike's dialogue in this season is like when you're playing episode but you don't have any gems so your dialogue options are the worst" and it's so true 😭😭 like at the skating rink, will was being vulnerable and expressing how hurt he was about mike not reaching out and explaining that it wasn't exactly great being a third wheel that whole time, and mike's response was "yeah, whatever, man" LIKE BRO 😭

Watching this for the second time, the end of ep 1 definitely was inspired by “A Nightmare on Elm Street.” There is the young girl, trapped in a dream, running through a creepy area while a menacing voice taunts her. She shares the same gruesome fate as Freddy’s first victim “Tina” including being thrown up to the ceiling and mutilated.

Hey, Aussie. I really was shaken and a little anxious 😟 watching this with you. Truly enjoyed it. Poor crissy. I truly felt her pain. Bulimia is one of the worst addiction you can have, same as anorexia. I'm going to be opened a little. I had both. I'm fully recovered now. Dark fun fact, those addiction top all of the other addiction, including suicide. It breaks heart to see some go through that. Thank you for being so opened with us. To be honest, I feel special 😌 when clarify or being vulnerable. Warms my heart. Thanks.
