I loved the attention given to Lin in these episodes and 'low-stakes' drama that took place. It felt well written and I feel like I know so much more about the characters in such a short amount of time. Enjoy :)

Actually the flashback with sokka happened before zaheer tried to kidnap Korra so him only meeting one combustion bender at that point lines up fine

another thing to note about zaheer is that he was known as being extremely dangerous as a *nonbender.* so to compete with benders in the past, he would have to compensate like sokka did, with tactical skill. he also seems to have a solid base in martial arts. so combining that and his knowledge and respect for air bender history, he was literally the perfect foundation for an incredibly powerful new air bender.

also i was so glad that you empathized with lin before knowing what was up with her past. i love that they were able to convey her pain even when literally every action she took was offensive. such good writing.

I love this season! It has such good, emotional writing all throughout up till the last scene.

I am with Lin on this one. With Su, she was constantly saying “I’m a different person. I’ve changed.” But never was it “I’m sorry.” It’s something I see as someone who works adjacent to the addiction recovery community. The ones who truly accept responsibility and make amends to their victims are more successful than the ones who just want a quick fix, a quick return of their kids and immediate expungement of their record. I’m for second chances in most cases (I draw a hard line at harming children) but I’m also for sincere apologies.

Finally, in the 6th book in the Avatar universe, we learn one of the subsets of airbending! And we learned the second earthbending subset in episode 2 of this book as well! So that’s: Water - healing and bloodbending Fire - lightningbending and combustionbending Earth - metalbending and lavabending Air - spirit projection

15:59 I’m actually on Korra’s side over Lin’s here. There’s no reason to think Korra would be any safer in Republic City. I’d actually argue that a moving target is harder to hit, so Korra staying on the move is probably better. Plus, Korra’s right, she’s not a little kid. She’s a fully realized Avatar. And we just saw Zaheer and co beat the three water tribe chiefs, the former Firelord, and a dragon. While Lin is an excellent metalbender, idk why she thinks she’s more capable of taking on Zaheer’s group than the Avatar is.
