I have realized, to an extent, what I was missing out on with the compression tools in Reaper, my audio editor. I've mostly used it in the past to cut out background noise in my recordings, but I made some extra use of it in this chapter to make the booms sound appropriately distant and muffled without overdoing it. I'll have to explore these tools some more at a later date and see what I c an come up with.
