Not making any progress escaping the quicksand, Sakuya uses her power to stop the flow of time entirely to buy herself an extended period of trying to escape.  To her dismay, every violent twist and turn she made  in the mire while time was stopped didn't loosen its grip on her in the slightest, she remained locked in place.  And once time starts up again, she would realize too little too late the consequences of all that stationary struggling ;D
