Why are football clubs continuing to buy other football clubs? Multi-club ownership is on the rise, but why is it important to the buying clubs and should we be concerned about an increasing trend that now seems unstoppable?

good pod, certainly a subject that we will hear a lot more about in the future. I think you slightly missed on the fan perspective for fans of teams from "lower in the pyramide" though

re: James's suggestion that a PL team could buy a Scottish club, I know that smaller ones (e.g. Livingston) would be quite open to it. I think the main reason it hasn't happened yet is that a Scottish club wouldn't provide the advantages that Belgian or Portuguese clubs do in terms of getting non-European players into the country. That's because they operate under the same immigration laws as the English clubs, although the SFA are more generous than the FA in giving out exemptions.

Great pod guys. The athletic football podcast featured some stuff on multi club ownership in theirs today (although not as comprehensively as suj and James). But is a good listen for anyone who enjoyed this : talks club world cup and other things too

Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this since it has been a topic that has fascinated me for quite a while now. Thanks for doing a pod on it!
