Liverpool fan and Planet FPL Patreon Lauren Harris joins James to discuss the upcoming European Championship in England which kicks off tomorrow night at Old Trafford. There's discussion on England's chances, those with hope of winning the tournament and some of the players to watch out for.

But the Podcast centres on and begins with conversation on growth in the women's game and barriers that get in the way. The positives and negatives of the role TV coverage is playing, questions over who the FA are targeting to increase participation in the game and attendances in the Women's Super League.

This could be a game changing summer for Women's Football both on and off the pitch.

Just got done listening to the pod and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Learned lots of new things that I didn’t know before, especially the way goalkeeping coaching wasn’t really a thing until quite recently. Full credit to Lauren for making this pod very informative and interesting at the same, and James for being a great host which is almost second nature to him at this point. Personally started getting into women’s football at the peak of the pandemic when I stumbled across videos on the official Arsenal YouTube channel showing some of the players doing behind the scenes stuff and playing random games, all of which got me interested in the squad. The 2021/22 season was the first where I got proper invested in it, watching nearly all of Arsenal games, and quite a decent amount of UCL games right up until the final. The timing of the Euros couldn’t be better with there not being much going on in the men’s game. I’ve even managed to convince quite a few of my friends to watch a few of the big matchups and for most of them, these will be the first set of games they’re going to watch of the women’s game. As an outsider, I’d personally like to see England winning it because it’d mean Leah Williamson lifts the trophy, but also wouldn’t mind seeing Netherlands take it with Viv as top scorer.

Fantastic pod what a great eye opener about grassroots football for girls. Hopefully this euros will generate more local teams for girls and woman so they can play for their local team. The game has come so far I remember in junior school their was a girl who was great at football but the teacher wouldn't put her in the team and everyone said she should be in. At high school we had a girl who would always play football with us at lunch time luckily as she got older she got to play for the local team. Hopefully we can have more women's football podcast and well done Lauren you did fantastic

I might be biased as I'm from there but I genuinely think Iceland might surprise a lot of people, it's a tough group but I think we have a shot at going far in the competition.
