Happy Monday everyone! I hope your week is starting off better than mine lol. My state is expecting a bunch of wind and rain the next few days and needless to say it's not fun. I love rain but hate being in it xD My power was flickering last night so I ended up not being able to record anything. As I was typing this my internet also went out and I had to wait to post it haha! Wish me luck that I can record later. If everything goes well my Pokémon card opening video will be out tomorrow night! ^_^

For next week's character I was thinking we could continue the animal theme but with a little something different- let me know which one sounds most interesting to you :P

The question this week is this: how long do you give an anime/manga before you decide it isn't for you? I've always had a three episode rule for anime, two volumes for manga. If you can't catch my attention in that time then it's probably not my cup of tea.

I'm willing to try anything, but that also means I drop things quickly. I've dropped 900 anime at episode 1 and 500 manga at chapter 1. I usually have a few checkpoints. 5 minutes/20 pages: Do the visuals and premise meet my bare minimum requirements? 1 episode/1 chapter: Is there anything that justifies my time? (Visuals, writing, characters, premise, popularity, critical reception, recommendations) 3 episodes/1 volume: Has it delivered on its premise or has it just been writing checks it can't cash? 6 episodes/whatever chapters: Am I enjoying it? Everything up till now has been objective critic/reviewer, but at 6 episodes I feel comfortable just trusting my gut. I rarely change my mind after this point with anime. Manga is different because they're so long that a manga can change completely into something that I'm no longer interested in, so I drop manga whenever.

I like your way of doing things Bob! I think what you said is fair in judging when to continue/stop a series. I was reminded of something I've noticed when you mentioned bare minimum requirements. I know this may sound a little snobby of me but it's how I feel! I think some newer anime series tend to have the same "look" to them. I can't really pinpoint what it is but it kinda distracts from it having its own art style. My guess is the company working on it since the manga art looks different than said series. Either way, some of them have this copy/paste look that I'm not a fan of, almost like a template. Maybe it's just me but it's something I've noticed over the past few years with anime.

When it comes to anime it really depends, if it's one I'm watching because of recommendations, they typically get the benefit of the doubt if they're bad for the first few episodes, and most other shows in my list will get a similar treatment to yours, good first few episodes? Probably keep watching. As for the character for next week, I voted for wererabbit, I'm hoping there will be cheese!!!

If I get recommended something from a friend then I'll be a little more lenient since I trust their judgement (for the most part haha!). It looks like wererabbit is in the lead, so I need to get ready to draw a bunny girl- not disappointed in the slightest though, I love rabbits! :P
