In Chapter 5, there are two forms of currency. The standard Platina is accepted by some elements of society, like the Steam Droids, but Regulus City doesn't take them. You need to produce work credits by doing useful things around the city. Coincidentally, those useful things are the minigames of Chapter 5.

The first one is the title image. Blue Sphere was first introduced in Sonic 3 for the Sega Genesis. It's a pseudo 3D game where your goal is to collect all the blue spheres in the stage without touching the red ones. It's sort of a puzzle and sort of a reaction-speed game. Pandemonium's version will include new features, new sphere types, and a (very much needed) minimap function. Completing levels provides work credits and unlocks new levels.

Next up we have Space Invaders, which will be getting a new name and new graphics. These are the placeholder graphics I, erm, borrowed from the Atari version. Urimas and I will be making new sprites for the game.

This version of Space Invaders allows for customizable loadouts and allows you to upgrade your weapons and ship armor between waves. Using fewer weapons and less armor gets you more points but increases the game's difficulty. Playing the game produces work credits, and is repeatable.

The third minigame is Tetris. This is the programmer-art version. In-house artist CocoMint is going to be designing the UI for Tetris. It will have a few features that most Tetris versions don't have, like droppable bombs and a board-inverting ability. Clearing enough lines provides work credits.

The fourth minigame is Raiju Roundup, but it's not in the game yet. It takes place in the same game space as normal gameplay, and the player's goal is to herd a bunch of Raiju girls into a pen for feeding time.

So what's the point of work credits? Well, in addition to allowing Christine to acquire some top-of-the-line equipment, you can also spend them to spruce up her living quarters with a number of optional objects and furniture. There is also a dating and affection mechanic I'll get into in a later post where work credits can play an important role.

That's all for now. Next week we'll be showing some of the golem concept art.

I super did not expect the Sonic 3 special stage. I think it will be really neat to see your take on all of these games.
